People are focusing far too much on hyperspace's balance today. It's mostly irrelevant. I'm sure there will be an event or 2 that use it before January, but the vast majority of tournaments that use it should be after the points rebalance. So stop talking about how Boba will dominate, because presumably boba (or at least han gunner) will have gone up in price.

Will it go up significantly?

Will it even matter when Slave 1 still exists?

This is my exact point i'm trying to make above.

Man I'm already getting sick of the Extended vs Hyperspace debates and people telling each other they're wrong. Is it going to be like this for the next few weeks?

Oh, don't act like you're new here or something. ;)

  • First: because point changes are "on the way" and not here yet. Until then, there's only 1-2 ships for each faction which are viable. If Hyperspace dropped with a points update, and not just for the Hyperspace ships (it'd be a lot easier to swallow Hyperspace if it didn't seem like the only nerfed format...), there'd be a lot more trust that it'd be a good format

So basically you'd rather them not have told us now what ships were going to be legal? I mean they could have waited until January to tell us what was going to be legal, but I don't think there is harm in getting the transparency out there now. I don't think there are any official Hyperspace format events between now and January.

No, it'll be like this forever

In other topics, Wave 2 is legal on the 13th, 24th for premier. What's the first big tournament including the sequels?

I am looking forward to my crappy 4 T-70 with Heavy Laser Cannons list.

What I want is for them to adjust points faster. I'm also probably wicked spoiled by Heroes of the Storm, where they'll have slight balance tweeks every few weeks. It's the kind of game where there are a lot more dials to turn, and they can be turned in finer increments, but it remains: it's harder to trust that a company that isn't very responsive will fix problems in a timely fashion.

In the meanwhile, release a draft balance version, like Privateer kinda does with Community Integrated Development for Warmachine/Hordes. Or Blizzard with most of their games--they have a "public test realm" where likely balance changes can be tested by the public, perhaps bugs found, but at very least, there are proposed changes which can be discussed and thought about.

A "oh, we'll fix it in a month and a half" is really weak from FFG.

They said balance updates every 3-4 months, and then changed that to 6: That's a massive ******* slowdown.

The other thing: the almost surely won't release a draft ahead of time, there will be massive things missed (like E-Wings being unplayably expensive), and FFG will just drop the whole thing on us in an instant and it'll take 6 months for them to address any issues.

Since they clearly don't have the staff/money they need to properly playtest things, they ought to use a somewhat community/crowdsourced draft changes process.

Do you trust the community though?

I trust myself more than FFG. *shrug*

The thing about a community-previewed draft points list is this: FFG doesn't *have* to listen to the community. Maybe they are convinced in some circumstances, but at least it's an option to potentially foresee issues before they happen, rather than letting us live with the problems for months before the next adjustment.

Now that the bid illuminati have decided that the Squad of Legend runs at 184 (Crack Shot Soontir), the next logical step is no-EPT Soontir at 183.

What then?

Kagi with 0-0-0 in the Soontir spot makes 182

Sai with 0-0-0 there makes 181

Juke Duchess in that spot makes 177. I guess you can put the Collision Detector back on Whisper for 182

Where is the floor?!?!

94 If points in list get to the point that they would be legal in 1.0, do we win?

Just cut the third ship entirely, easy 69 (nice) point bid

Hyperspace/points rebalance

Update, @Tlfj200! Nice table on stream!

Heck, some Quickbuild (4x E-Wings is legal in Quickbuild...).

I tried it, it doesn't seem that strong TBH. Naked low-PS Es feel really awkward.

Roll 6 evade dice. If you don’t get 3 evades, yes. If you do get 3 evades, avoid the forums for that many weeks (answer is still yes).

Just run 2 crackshot blacks, and a big bid.

So the consensus is that putting hull/shield upgrades on an Interceptor is a giant waste of points, correct?

The Silencer kinda is an Interceptor with those same bad upgrades autoincluded.

Saber with an extra mod slot(2 shield+hull)=63

FO Test Pilot=62

Same thing for a 3 mod alpha at a theoretical 57, vs a 56 Engineer.

Kylo is a whole different ballgame entirely here. (Rather, Supernatural is...) Why is Kylo more expensive than Rey and Boba? Why does the Silencer pay so god **** much for its statline?

The squad of legend

Jesus, it works on so many levels

Doesn't matter, Dash/Roark is the new hotness.

Put Kylo on the board once already since release on Thursday. The manoeuvrability is ace. But he really suffers from a lack of force and lack of non-reposition actions.

So he has to do a Luke and take a TL, and rely on Force for the 2nd mod, unlike Vader.

But he can't recharge like Luke so has so many drains on that Force including his pilot ability.

He therefore really really needs to arc dodge to stop that massive drain, but the I5 makes that harder.

Played him against Kavil, Palob, Guri. And he did ok.

But definitely, not worth the 94pts. Would so much rather have Super Vader for 85pts or the afterburners version for comparable cost.

Higher PS and better dmg output, and these have an indirect effect on giving better defence as well.

I have a dumb rules question. When near an obstacle, does Poe with Debris gambit able to take a white evade as a second action? It's treated as a white action which allows Poe to PTL to treat it as a red action which is then treated as a white action because you are near an obstacle.
