This Rebel discussion towards the end (not done yet) is great. I do think there's more to explore with Rebels, people just haven't gotten there. A lot of the Imp/Scum stuff was kind of obviously good in a headsim, some of it borderline glaringly good. I think Rebel stuff will require time on the table. I plan to play a lot of (unintentionally) bad Rebel stuff for a while and see if there's anything which gels better for me than Scum or Imperial.

One squad I saw from the PTL last weekend that I want to try out was naked Wedge, Luke, Thane, and Sabine. I'll miss the tricks, but maybe the raw firepower is enough.

Dash w/ Han Gunner (plus stuff) and Roark.

It’s amazing what turns up on the ffg squad discussion forum.

I’ve played it for a while at 196 with Dash and found quickly that anything that really wanted to move last was bidding lower.

It’s an interesting list because it entirely puts the burden of execution on your opponent. I went evens with it, and on my losses it was my error in the engage. I think it’s a great tournament list for making cut because you will shaft people who’ve never played against it before, but I don’t think you would win with it against the top tier lists of the moment.

Pretty much the only Rebel stuff I've played around with is X-Wings. I think I know where those lie, at least for me. I'm lining up lists with A-Wings, K-Wings, E-Wings and the Falcon, specifically. I've not seen any of them show up in the few tournaments we've seen thus far.

I haven't checked out that section of the forums in awhile, let alone went into the actual threads. Tried it a few times, only found pain...

This is pretty common from what I've seen.

Lando/Nien Numb and Han/R2D2 are both solid Falcon builds. Lando is the most 1.0 feeling ship so far because being able to focus/lock every turn can be oppressive.

Yeah, that was me. Fully agree, he was a great guy until late in the match I declared spinning was a good trick and barrel rolled a block in. Put up with me for that long though!

I hope he had more success.

Getting caught up on that game. That validates why I want crack on 4 of my squints. If he had that he would have dropped one in the first engagement and punched a few more crits through. Also...don't formation joust 4 double tokened + juke phantoms.

Saw some very uh... interesting ideas at PTL. Rebels seemed very odd, but often setup on the alpha strike delivery. I walked away with no further information to try for Rebels. Still working at trying to fit good pieces in with unknown pieces to see if something fits.

Interesting note... unconfirmed, but rumor has it that I had the only M3A. I actually found that surprising considering how many people brought three different lists. Sunny was almost on stream, but I'm glad I chose the Phantoms... 5 Interceptors would have been rough on my Scum list...

There’s a few solid discussions on there. It’s where triple Wookiees was born in v1. It and here are the only places I go on these forums.

All go over the relative benefits and drawbacks of Leebo/Dash, Outrider or not and Roark builds. I settled on co-ordinate Roark to give mods to Dash and including outrider for TL removal. It’s an interesting puzzle.

random poll time @everyone
Would you watch a weekylish (mothly?) gameshow-themed x-wing episode?

Every week, a random person is given a random list from YASB's random function, and competes in a game of X-wing vs a Reddit user and their reddit-y list (or forums, etc) for prizes.

Yeah when I first heard about a local using Dash/Roark I started to build it and immediately went to Squad Leader on Roark (after Moldy Crow). Just to coordinate the focus (likely perceptive copiloted) on Dash so he can either turn arc, barrel roll or TL action.

Yeah, his choices were more the deciding factor than my own. I want to watch it myself before I try to get too analytical on it, but I wasn't mentally prepared for a long positional jockeying event so I decided to deal with the painful and expected joust. I expected to lose that first Phantom and got away with it. It was sacrificial in favour of trading an Interceptor that turn and getting a positional advantage to pounce on the remaining four.

I don't think he had much a plan to combat my list. His A-game with the Interceptors was a quick strike and joust with concentrated fire - a terrible decision against something that can slide sideways. Unless of course I just straight jousted him back maybe...

Pretty much. I added tactical officer and engine to the crow to keep up with Dash.

Yeah I don't like going full twitch on people and ******** on their game. Just saying as a person who has run 5 squints a number of times and knowing what I know about phantoms....that's not what I would have done. You were surgical in your choices. He went ham fisted into it with ships that live or die off their focus token and dice vs ships with Juke and shooting before him. Have to spread out and give those squints some room to roam.

Since you were both at 200pts, who won the choice for init? If I had the choice, I think I'd rather have been moving & shooting first vs your list. Blocks are a little harder to pull off, and I might have a chance to get you to burn the evade before you have a chance to juke me.

One of those I don't think you need. IMO lose Engine upgrade first? Not convinced immediately, but I believe I'm more likely to coordinate than boost and as long as I just control my movement distance between the 2, I can keep up with Dash. Especially since Roark moves first and can catch up to Dash to coordinate then Dash can move outside the 0-2 distance anyway.

Actually, I don't remember who made the call. I totally wanted to shoot first though, for the very reason you noted. If I can punch him first with juke I force him to burn his focus or die. If he shoots first... I risk losing my focus and evade tokens. Probably a Phantom too, because he rolled a LOT of focus results as I recall.

I'm not sure I believe in non corran e wings, but the rest are on my list to try once my l5r training montage ends in November. Though we may have FO by then lol. Poor rebels get my attention for a maximum of like 6 days

Rogue squadron are amazing ordnance carriers. Mostly because people see a non-Corran e-wing and discount it.
