I don't believe you. People don't come to play X-Wing without jousting... Just circle for a bit until they decide it's time to joust.

Everybody makes fun of this, but there are huge differences between different kinds of jousting setups that can be engineered by running around for a while first.

To be fair, every lists jousts. Just depends on if you want to straight up joust or use your squad strengths/board to have a controlled joust.

It's just a question if it's honorable or not.

I kinda disagree with this.... unless you mean that some lists joust BADLY.

Unless you are just castling, you have to engage at some point. A controlled joust doesn't mean to just fly in face first.

My point, for example, is a bombing list. Unless it had tragedy simulator, you don't want to joust with it - it's not what the list does.

what if - and hear me out here - we had a way to just deal autodamage? Like without dice hitting the table? That would be really good, maybe even an effective counter to boba. What would be really bonkers if it did a crit to an area. Then, it would hard counter tie swarms. Just need a delivery method, ideally something that can modify defense dice, by, I don't know, adding an evade. That would be a good counter. Shame that totally doesn't exist in the game in the 50 point range for rebels. such a shame.

Oh no, we are not about to bring back accuracy corrector/ autoblaster.

you need to get your priorities in order, go back to dan

Given the restrictions at Coruscant, the first chance to see the 2.0 meta might be at UK Team Championships on Sunday 7th Oct.

Currently, 126 players. 42 teams of 3. Some UK players are away at Coruscant, so won't be all the top players.

There is a stream for those interested.

There will also be an italian team there!

Not me thought... :(

If you are interested in military lessons applicable to the game though then that podcast won‘t help. There are better podcasts and books for that.

That's just jousting with your butt.

Yeah, i saw that. I remember from way back in 2010 that there seemed to be a regular Warhammer team competition in Italy. Which is quite different from UK culture.

Am looking forward to it, but struggling to come up with an Imperial list i like.

Played Super Vader at a tournament last weekend. He is good. But finding the wingmen to support him +bid is such a struggle.

We are pretty hot with the ETC in Italy, but we were late than you starting a team circuit like the UKTC. The fact that our player numbers aren't even a quarter of what you find in the UK isn't helping either... Our national had less players than some of your store championship.

It's worth pointing out that x-wing team play is awesome, I would suggest anyone to try it

68 people.

Since it was last weekend I was expecting even less partecipant tbh

So, I'm bored and I'm reading various rants and raving and foaming at the mouth and all that about Extended vs Second Edition formats for tournaments. My own preference is likely Second Edition, though I believe this will be a stronger choice and better supported by the masses in wave 2 or 3.

A thought occurred to me though... somebody noted that Extended would be required less once everything is reintroduced... but would it be so bad if everything WASN'T brought back? K-Wings and E-Wings, for example? These would remain valid in casual play and Extended formats but would stay out of Second Edition format?

Anyway, don't read too much into this as I haven't put any thought into it, and FFG is working off their own plan unrelated to whatever I post. Just curious on this one.

Would it be bad from a game design perspective? Maybe not, depends if those ships really have a unique (and useful) role to fill within their faction.

But it would anger a lot of players. It's easy to say "oh but they can play them in casual" but the truth is many players want to play the same format as premier events - either because they're practicing for them or just because it feels more "legit". And so a lot of leagues and smaller tournaments will probably follow that same structure too. And now you have a bunch of ships that people won't ever be able to use in the majority of games they play.

I don't feel strongly either way, but I think it would alienate some players for no reason. Especially if ffg didn't support the Ewing but then released some other new rebel ship, that would feel bad (and like a cash grab to many players)

It really feels like bull$#!% that new players will care about not having access to all of the extended ships. From what I've seen so far, all of the new players are too busy having fun with their 4X lists, Trench Run lists, Triple Fang Lists, Boba, Fang, Escape Craft lists, and so on. I see no reason to screw over 9/10 of players to accommodate the 1/10 who is already having a good time to begin with. And if someone does have an issue with it and wants to fly phantoms or B-Wings, we can always just let them borrow one or a few of the 40+ ships that we are not actively flying at that moment and then they're happy. It feels like people are picking up rocks, and looking for problems beneath them.

Whatever.

People are thinking NOW, versus when there are 7 factions, 4 factions with 5 ships or less.

Think whatever you want.

FFG alienates particular groups of players no matter what they do. Every choice makes one group happy and pisses another group off. A lot of players like to play something different from premier, and premier itself is not just a single format - see example Coruscant. I no longer buy "that pissing off players" excuse. The reason FFG should make decisions based on game design.

I wouldn't be surprised if the pre-Disney reboot EU ships are put on the back burner for re-release. I assume FFG will be prioritizing releasing ships to match the most recent Star Wars media and then dipping into the more obscure old-EU stuff when they catch up.
