Im buying all boba stock, and it's NOT because of the play I saw in store or on camera.

Is it maybe the firespray? I ran triple bounty hunter and it felt really good. I wasn’t playing back in the day when that was a thing, but I’m willing to bet it is a thing again.

I kinda want to try Boba but I apparently like to self-sabotage in list building?

I mean, that's huge, though? He's definitely too cheap, but 2 shots per turn vs 1 and no turret is tremendously different.

Firesprays are really good, but boba stands out as really, REALLY good.

Native rerolls, without actions, is amazing (it's per shot on defense), so scales with # of shots.

Further, add in an action (or 2, via coordinate), and now you have a super ship that can withstand multiple shots per turn with low damage. The whole part of bringing multiple arcs is that you can weather down a ship in the same turn, which is far, far less true on boba.

where's the 2nd shot coming from?

Han Gunner (scum) gives you the ability to red focus when you engage.

Even without a 2nd shot, the fact he throws a highly accurate 4 die shot (he SHOULD be at R1, or loling away aft gunning) is the problem: very defensive with also very good offense.

Which is how I started my Boba adventure. Strong against TIE swarms if you can get yourself in the right spot. Tends to lead to poor choices (when i fly it) just trying to set up turns where those 4 points do anything.

It's a vastly inferior build, but it's an option. Who knows, someday the points might work out.

Dengaroo-esque, as in there's an argument to be pumping more into creating a "100 pt boba" - where your list is merely there to support boba (i.e., coordinate to him often).

oh my lord. our Launch Day Event, I parked Boba right in front of a TIE swarm, bumping into the lead guy on my move. Boba's shot ate Iden's token, Boba's wingman took out Howlrunner, and I flipped over one Boba shield. It seemed very fair.

So what do you do about it? I know that all of my lists have had ways of putting 4 hits into a ship specifically because of the high static defense of Boba and Luke. Are other people not putting big attacks into their list?

This is more unique to some of the lists I've been running, but I've been sending everything I have against wingmates, then leaving a Defender vs Boba for the end game. It's a slap fight, but the Defender gets some slaps through.

...that boba list was not particularly good.

Spoiler - boba is just good, and doesn't actually need a bid (as we just discussed there are ways to ferret actions to him and he doesnt really need actions).

His other option was to turn onto a Moralo on the board edge and shoot into reinforce and then be chasing nothing the following turn.

I guess the way I've experienced him so far is that he's really efficient, probably a bit undercosted, but largely manageable. TIE Swarm probably has the biggest problem with him, granted, but I guess when one goes all in on one strategy, that can happen.

technically, any swarm has problems with him, but having 3 dice is better than 2.

Like, the bombers aren't a fan of boba.

X-wings aren't a huge fan either. The list goes on.

non formation swarms are better, but boba should be able to find R1 of one of them most of the time, and that ship at R1 will feel very sad, and boba will still get defensive rerolls.

He's just a good ship.

Boba's biggest weakness is nuking his reroll source before the rest of the enemy squad fires.

That’s all I was saying about Boba, is that he’s good and this event will make that fact penetrate even further into the greater X-Wing community.

About the bid, it’s not for Boba, was 100% for Guri. Jury is also still way out on where bids should land, though.

I agree with everything you’re saying.

Regarding Dengaroo, the 2nd ship was Manaroo who was minimum R3, if not further away. So not contributing to actual shooting.

A Boba list brings a good 2nd ship which becomes the "Dengar revenge shot" in essence.

So you still get a very defensive ship with loads of rerolls, and several focuses. As well as 2 hyper modded attack shots.

That is Dengaroo.

Remember when people complained about how Dengar could bump ships and get full mods on everything? That's Boba with Han Gunner.

I feel like forcing bumps with Boba is the correct move a lot of the time unless you really want to shoot that ship.

This is a list building counter, but Midnight is looking pretty freaking good against Boba, right? Beats his initiative, denies modifications, should be maneuverable enough to effectively knife fight with him.
