YASB, cause it works.

The web app looks like the mess my bank made thinking "more interstitial screens" were a feature.

I haven't looked at the actual app yet.

The webapp is pretty much what I expected - maybe even a bit better. The mobile app (i tried the iOS version on an iPad) is probably just a pass-through to the web app. The lack of offline mode supports that theory and is the big blown opportunity.

I have to confess that I've never quite got the love for YASB. I guess it's quick and light but it's just a very ugly website with a UI that's only a little nicer to use than the FFG app.

I'm convinced the people that write the preview articles are the same people that designed the app. At first glance it appears to have what we want, but a few minutes in, everyone is all like "wait, whadda fuq?"

You get that heresy out of here!

Gameplay > fluff

Jokes aside the actual reason I love yasb and yasb 2 is they're like the Glock 19 of squad builders, there's fancier and prettier options but they work and they work with everything you need them to work with. It's hard to beat fast, intuitive and functional.

I've never really associated the word intuitive with either YASB, but of course you get used to systems so I can see that.

Plus I guess most folk in Americaland drive everywhere, so offline apps probably aren't as essential for burning commute time.

I never felt YASB as intuitive or handy, I ended up using it after Squadron Builder became incredibly laggy and less frequently update and I only used it to print tournament lists, at least up until some weeks ago when I got hit by 2.0 mania.

Luckly now X-wing Squad Designer is back in action and it's my go to app for online and offline squad building.

Anyway, back on 2.0 discussion: what do you feel about old PWT now? I played against an Oicunn, and while my opponent did some mistakes like being too obsesses with coordinate, I felt like there might be still space for them. The reinforce action might be incredibly strong, but the issue is the lack of action economy on ships so expansive.

Large ships might have all become Shadowcaster, and shadowcasters weren't that bad at getting people into their arc.

Next time I would like to try a rebel Falcon, still unsure on Han or Lando. Han has 6 ps and Lando has a very nice ability considering the Falcon will mostly just do evade or boost. As a wingman I will probably try Corran Horn since he was my favourite rebel ship and deserve a try, but I fear he is utter **** in 2.0: too expansive and with a potentially lackluster ability. But since he can carry adv.sensor maybe he could be good...

I've yet to fly much for turrets. A Y-wing once. I've got an Imperial list though I want to try out on Tuesday.

This may just be me since probability mitigation/knowing the odds is my thing, but holy **** is Han's ability one of ~5 interesting things in the rebel faction.

To the point that if i'm attempting to trade conversion kit chunks, I say I just want Han, no other falcons.

I forgot how much fun game night was. I'm so happy X-Wing is back.

I‘m free at last! Last tournament of 1.0, first time I won one. Not well, I barely crawled from win to win, but I take it.

Now 2.0, so excited!

Live free, eat loin.

First 2.0 match with my son has happened! Fenn, Teroch, and Palob vs Boba, Torkil, and Talonbane.

He gave up when he rocked Torkil and I had a 1 hull Fenn, 1 hull Teroch and shieldless Palob left. With what I've seen of those HWKs, he may not have won it, but he could have clawed back points.

He enjoyed the match (short of not being happy he lost again and not getting how close that was), but Scum is not his faction at all, so it's still wait and see if I can hook him back in.

Just wondering, on account of nothing, how old your son is? I’ve wondered every time you mention about trying to Godfather him back in.

Holy crap flying a TIE swarm is so fun. Thank you 2.0.

Oh man. We had a Launch Tournament today. I took Boba and Moralo to second place, losing to Luke and three X-Wings.

I lost to a guy flying Luke Skywalker and three more X-Wings! This is amazing! Good job, 2.0!

(I also faced down an entire TIE Swarm with Boba in game one and walked away down only one shield.)

i had some interesting games today, but

The best lists at my opening tournament were those with the most ships. The final was 5 ship v 5 ship, the most of any there.

Are people flying 3 ship because they are used to it?

Trip Aces is just fun

In my first six games or so, the best lists were those with the fewest upgrades. Force slot is the only upgrade that needs to be filled, a single secondary weapon on a ship that can take them and also has a weak primary, and that’s about it. Marksmanship on the artist formerly known as Wampa.

That can shake out to 3-7 ships, and they are all pretty darn good.

He's 8 (going on 9) now. He started playing when he was 5 (going on 6) and went to his first tournament when he was 6.5. If we did paper slips in the great white north, he would have gotten his Krayt bounty at 7 (going on 8), ;)

He's really good, solidly top half, which given his age is awesome. He was 39th out of 67 at last year's PTL Open, at 7, in large part because he was matched up with me in the 5th round and I know how he plays, so it was mostly an insta loss. 3-3 was nonetheless a good record for his first big tournament. How seriously people are taking the game now locally (while mostly not being that great...) killed it for him. It didn't feel like a game anymore.

His 6 year old brother started playing at the same time (when he was 3), was better, but does not enjoy that it's just plain skirmishes at all, or that it's war, so he almost never plays. The 4 year old has just played one epic game, and it was mostly due to wanting to physically move the Gozanti around, he's not quite there yet! Basically, if the oldest is not interested in playing, X-wing mostly looks pretty in our house.
