That's sort of where I'm at with lists. Can 3 i5 or better "Acey" ships reasonably take on a swarm without bombs? It *feels* like you want that extra out-of combat damage that bombs can provide to tip it in your favor.

Edit - and half price on small bases makes those pricey aces a bit more scared too.

I feel a bit dirty about even thinking of putting this on the table. Pretty much extends the life of the VCX by at least 6 shots.

Honestly, it's not spewing 4 TLT shots per turn. It might be a pain in the ***. It might be good. It's just not the same, so I'm okay with it.

It reduces the dmg by 1 down to a min of 1 instead of adding an evade result. It also comes into play at the final step when you compare dice results, so you can't roll an evade and reinforce to avoid two dmg. So you can't completely avoid dmg, but it adds up on high health targets and it great on 0 agility ships that aren't rolling defense dice anyways.

Reinforce happens after dice cancellation. It just reduces damage by one.

There was at least one Nym/Miranda in the cut at GenCon. We're all to blame.

I'm not even sure how this was my screenname. I guess I made an FFG account years ago when I watched Scott Pilgrim vs. the World on repeat.

So I double checked the rules reference and reinforce + Biggs doesn't work for two dice attacks. Biggs happens before the Neutralize Results step and reinforce happens during. So you can't reinforce to block one and have Biggs take the other.

What is interesting is that you can have more than one reinforce token and the effects stack. So 3 hits can go down to one with two tokens.

I put Phantoms on the table for the first time ever yesterday. I got stupid lucky, but they seem really good. They had a ton of shots, were reasonably tough, and had excellent maneuverability. The maneuverability felt kinda cheaty, honestly.

With a limited amount of reposition and high board state initiative available the candy cane move is pretty potent. I was just doing box laps around ships.

If your formation is pure enough your opponent has to fly into it

You can definitely do that, but even moving first, it was just so easy to be places you knew weren't going to allow good shots unless they made a very specific move. Asteroid fields were so easy to maneuver through.
