Edit: new page clarification:

All the Advanced pilots are legal for wave one only, I think the blister has all the pilots the conversion kit has? I don’t know if all u-wings will be legal or just the saw’s renegades ones

I was pretty sure the reason we have so many pilots in the blister packs is that they are plannng on two pilots from the conversion kit and two new ones, plus generics (give or take, not a rule).

All pilots for a ship that is legal should be legal, and they probably won’t make new players go buy conversion kits for pilots for a rereleased ship.

Im more worried about upgrades. Will rebel have access to all their unique crew, even though their only crew carrier is the u-wing? (This is an example, I’m not gonna play rebels).

That's the thing, right? All those upgrades in the conversion kits are also not 1.0, on top of all the ships.

Yep, that's my though. My "Wave 1" working assumption is you can only use pilots/upgrades found in:

  • Core Set
  • TIE Reaper
  • Saw's Renegades
  • T-65 X-Wing
  • BTL-A4 Y-Wing
  • TIE/ln Fighter
  • TIE Advanced x1
  • Slave I
  • Fang Fighter
  • Lando's Millennium Falcon

So, for example, I can't use any of the U-Wing pilots not found in Saw's. I could be completely wrong. /shrug

So is there any reason to not just run TIE Swarm or Mini Swarm + Vader if it turns out to be Wave 1 only? Does Scum have enough upgrades in the Wave 1 content alone to have viable builds?

Fangs, Boba, Fearless, Fearless, Fearless... yes.

my concern was mostly that Firesprays seem like ships that would want to equip at least a decent number of upgrades, particularly gunner/crew, but from the Core/Wave 1/Wave 14 only environment you're cutting out about half of the options.

I'd imagine TIE swarm will be the default, I know I've been practicing one (and suck at it). Scum probably has the most options available, really, because the Fang, Firespray and Falcon are all pretty **** good with some great available upgrades. Whether that can stand up to a TIE swarm in Wave 1?...I don't know. A lot of people are "meh" on Rebels, can't say I blame them, but I think they'll be okay.

Scum might be the best equipped to handle a tie swarm.

Boba is here.

Additionally, boba appears to be pissed.

Still trying to figure out how to make Boba work like Dengaroo

Gunner Han + Perceptive Cop (0-0-0 whenever he's legal)

Do people like the quick builds?

Because if I’m being honest, I have little to no desire to do anything with them. The ONLY time I can picture using them would be in some sort of draft format, but the logistics behind that make even that seem a bit more cumbersome than something I’d love.

They're fine for what they are. I think they're trying too hard to make them something they aren't though.

I love them, I just wish they were more balanced.

I'm very confused as to why FFG didn't make the mid-PS named pilots cheaper for those.

Vader and Luke are also busted.

Great concept, but seems totally unplaytested. :(

Save the thread (from page 2), save the dream!

Based on forum discussion and what everyone is playing locally, it feels like those of us only looking at wave 1 are in the vast minority. I both get it and don't get it at the same time.

I suspect it's because x wing is most people's first "competitive game" so the concept of having multiple active formats ala magic is foriegn to them. I'm thinking people will take well to it once it's presented. Either that or everyone is a liar, and doesn't like an easily accessible, more streamlined game focused on play not card combos, that also features iconic ships from star wars.

I actually really like them as someone who runs events and tries to coordinate games for new players. Someone new walks in I ask what's your favorite character or ship, throw together two lists in a minute and we're going!

A small part of it is that coruscant includes conversion kit stuff.

Has anyone tested Boba vs TIE swarm yet?

I have enough parts to make two tie punishiests, 2.0 seems like the excuse to do it, I could send you one

I've played fenn old t and a spray vs tie swarm, I found the firesprays rear Arc really helpful for keeping shots on the swarm continuously while the swarm jockeyed for position after the initial engagement. If boba can roll up and reinforce he's probably a happy camper.
