It is what drove me to Awings in the first place. Later T70.
Add in an Arc or Sheathipede as support and you get the HeavyAce/etc list I mentioned as a compromise. Never did well with it, but it was fun against other non-optimized lists.
Awing miniswarm as second alternative, especially since snapshot

Intensity/BB-8 Poe is probably the most Imperial ship the Rebels have.

BB-8 Poe has been the central hub of most things I fly (and like) since I started playing, conveniently right before Heroes of the Resistance was released. I'm holding out hope Poe is just as good, if not better, in 2.0. If Rey/Poe is a competitively viable list, I may never play anything else ever again.

There is a good chance of that - I think the Resistance is being setup as a strong "Ace" faction with two/three ships lists being very common.

Edit: Oh, and jesus, if FFG makes moveable/fold-able b-wings...
I've come to the conclusion that A-wings being good would do a lot to get me to play Rebels. I love the cheap workhorse tyoe of ship. A-wings have mostly been too expensive to be just blockers and their offense has been so poor. If their offense starts being useful and they're appropriately costed, I can see one or two being a solid element in a squad of Rebel fighters.
Edited by BiophysicalThis really is the greatest of all the echo chambers.
As a reward here is an even better question...
What A-Wing team are you on? Red Team or Blue Team?

What B-Wing Team are you on? Red Team or Grey Team?

I think the Red A-Wing is the best A-Wing and the Grey B-Wing is the best B-Wing.

Wes and Wedge with FAA and S-foils. You can now boost & BR at PS10/11 without even being stressed. Oh, and talon roll on the fly if you need to.

With the overall decrease in defensive token stacking and the nerf to evades, I think that their offense got a bit of a buff relatively speaking. Jake seems like a solid addition as a support ship with a proton rocket punch and Arvel could be crazy in the hands of a good blocker. My initial thought would be to use them like gnats - either they get focused first which is fine or they get ignored and peck you to death.

I've tried them, cuz I thought the same, aaaaaaaaaand....back to Poe.
@Boom Owl - Blue A-Wing for aces and PS1, red for generics! B-Wings...wait...do I have those?
Edited by gennataosI unironically want K-wings to be mediocore so I can play them and not feel bad.
That, the ARC, and the U-wing are things that speak to me from rebels. That slow flying punchy archytype is fantastic. Personally, If I want a fast ship I fly imperials, no contest. that said, I'm basically looking forward to building bad/ mediocore lists again, while dreaming about how well it may do before losing. That was always one of my favorite parts of X-wing.
@Boom Owl I'm all for trying to get all "Wings" to work for Rebels, especially A and B Wings. Definitely red team. Although I'm definitely a fan of Lando in the Rebel YT1300 so I'll probably put time in that too.
For Empire, I've already put in a lot of time into Strikers and plan to continue that. Beyond that, probably Bombers, Lambdas, and Defenders. It's mostly the interesting Imperial crew (Sloane, Tarkin, Grand Inquisitor, etc.) and what can be built around/with them.
For scum the only thing that catches my eye is calculate token economy via IG-88A and either IG-88D crew or other calculate users like Guri and 4LOM. It overall just interests me to explore the new token itself along with understanding where it can be most valuable and scum seem to have the best source of exploration.

So speculating a bit here...
How many A-Wings would you need be able to fit to justify a Luke/Wedge + A-Wing Mini Swarm type list?
In 1.0 you can fit Wedge and 3 Crack/Juke/Auto green squadrons. Firmly in fun but bad territory.
I think I would probably want 4 without missiles or 3 with missiles.
The biggest problem I have with A-Wings is that they seem like they pretty badly want to avoid taking a Target Lock instead of an Evade or Focus during initial combat.
I wonder if the 2.0 version of these things ends up with a System Slot so I can run some Advanced Sensors A-Wings.
Would make them somewhat similar to the Tie Advanced just much more mobile and introduces all kinds of crazy blocking stuff with Vectored Thrusters and I4 Jake Farrell.
*Actually scratch that...Advanced Sensors wouldnt really work with them at all.
Edited by Boom OwlI think with their 1.0 stats you look at them pretty hard at 28-30 points base. Sure, that's what they are now, but they don't have missile access and everything else is way better currently.

Right they seem crazy overcosted in 1.0 for the most part.
Im curious about what it would take in 2.0 to make them competitive beyond just making them cheap enough to take a ton of generics.
Access to Engine Upgrade to turn the Vectored Thruster boost white would be nice.

If that worked that way, it would be really cool. Reasonably priced Proton Rockets would make them great area control pieces.
Edit: Cheapish EPT access to generic or mid Initiative named pilots could make them interesting as well, sort of the FO style of ship. Not strictly efficiency, but with enough capability to get something done while being cheap.

Right and with the added bonus of taking a focus action instead of a TL so you have at least some amount of defense.
These things really want to be able to Focus + Evade.
I.E. if EU works that way Jake I think could evade + boost + focus?
For the Mynocks among us:

I thought the engine upgrade formatting is that you need a red boost action available and it adds a white boost action? The vectored thrusters doesn’t add a red boost to your bar so you couldn’t equip engine upgrade (I could be interpreting things super wrong).
edit: that is, expert handling and engine upgrade don’t change anything, they require the red one to equip and add a white one (so you could still do the stressful action if you wanted for some reason).
Edited by AEIllingworthBeing able to fit 4 mid pilot skill awings with prockets and a sheathipede in 2.0 would be kind of fun.

No. Because Engine Upgrade doesn't turn your red action white, it adds a white action as an option. The Vectored Thrusters action stays red.

But then how will I be able to leave my A-Wings inside of my opponents firing arcs without consequences????!!!! REEEEEE!!!

I still haven‘t painted them to green, actually. *shame*
