Vader can tank 2-3 torps before losing his shields (he gets 3 because reasons?) Even if you catch him, which you shouldn't unless someone screws up or runs out of afterburners, you still have to catch him a third time before it really matters. The odds of still having a ship alive at that point are... very low.

And I agree massively. I expect to see a lot of Vader's in stupid places, probably my own included.

I'm already ahead of the curve. My 1.0 Vader gets into stupid places rather easily.

That was a clinic. I’m less worried about Vader in full 2.0, because that could well be a lot of arcs to dodge. Five threat he is going to be a beast, because it is a max of three arcs (and no one will play two TIEs and a not-Vader Advanced, right?). He can dodge one arc forever, and two isn’t impossible. Three might even be fine. Four is getting to “you can’t dodge ‘em all” territory.

Edit: I realize I’m commentating 20 minutes later on a two hour video, I watched that one live and it wasn’t that long ago.

Only as something unofficial most likely. FFG doesn't seem to do a lot in the way of supporting "alternate formats". I have advocated for a while having objectives similar to Legion as tournament tiebreakers rather than Final Salvo, but that would require a turn limit rather than a time limit which feels wrong.

F22 and m22 when!!

Gavin is shooting at the mostly atmo but also space capable ships from adumar. A wierd bloodthirsty world of semi honorable fighter pilot knights who insist on trial by aerial joust combat. What's funny is that none of etahn, the e wing, or gavin was present there and the fighters used there never really go on to see combat elsewhere.
