The cards? Cards are just bits of card stock. You can make your own. The Krayt luke looks better IMO. The tokens and base marker? CPC looks better.
The real prize support is the friends you made along the way.

also, that's what I do every tournament
Id have to think about that.
To me useful is anything that is immediately helpful even without actually genuinely understanding why it helps. Like memorizing math instead of learning it. Save target locks for when its the most impactful is a similar helpful thing that "works" even if a player isnt actively sorting out why it sometimes works.

That is the most wholesome post in this thread.

I cannot agree with all the parts of this post enough. We need some tarot-sized Krayt alt-arts of entire builds now I think. But we should wait until the meta develops so we can make them be good builds

alternative: you make them whatever reddit says is good after a preview article and create the dumpster fire format.

I have a LOT of thoughts here. I've personally decided that I prefer a more teched up RPG over a more RPG'd Xwing but I have rules for both if you like.

Actually, a more teched up WEG RPG is exactly what I was planning! That would be super cool. Thanks!

oh wait WEG!
I now need to think about this. Let me go review how the heck space combat works in WEG. I've run it a bunch but it's been a few years. I know they have maneuvers and the like, but it's hard to visualize.
To date no Star Wars RPG has gotten spaceship combat right.

WEG was very basic and story based. It had stats for things but it didn’t really flow nicely?
I know our own group pretty much just used Xwing rules for our WEG setup. Rolled piloting skill before combat began and that would be the PS number/initiative for battle. Gunnery was also rolled in the same way, and that would be the order of firing.
Shields could be regenerated with the shields skill
Sensors... etc...
otherwise it was just a standard FFG Xwing game.
Alright, draft format questions. People that paid too much attention to the conversion kits, how do the tiles work? Is it the same now, where if there's 4 pilots the higher unique pilot is on the opposite side of the higher generic?
Also, if you were planning on splitting conversion kits with a group of friends because you all only wanted some of the ships, how many players would you be splitting with? Running it as an event with 8 people seems reasonable - $50 x 3 + $40 core for ~$200 after tax and such, then divided by 8 is $25/person which isn't bad at all.
Also, would you rather be forced to have two lists, or two factions? I realize they aren't necessarily mutually exclusive, but just picking all the X faction stuff every pass seems dumb. I was thinking hangar bay style draft 2 lists, pick one after seeing your opponents.

Why add a core to each draft pool? Just say that you can use those ships via some other method.

I'm thinking if a store wanted to run the format, they'd probably want to provide cores as well. You could obviously have people bring them from outside as well, but if I'm running a 70 person draft tournament, getting all the right cards back to the right people is way harder than just selling more product.
Looks like all the unique pilots are on one side, generics on the other?

Makes life a lot easier - draft Fenn and also get a skull squadron pilot.

Several questions:
1. Are you drafting pilots, or ships?
2. Are you drafting upgrades separately?
Answers:
It looks from that picture like there is some generic/generic, but not many.
8 seems reasonable as well, just make sure they don't all want to play the same thing.
And I would rather be forced to have two lists, because part of the appeal of this for me would be getting ships I need more conversions of, so I would rather be able to draft for that and figure it out later. Forcing two factions makes that harder.

I foolishly booked a trip for Nationals instead of GenCon when FFG rejected me for worlds.

You'd have a "pack" of cards, that has both ships and upgrades you'd be taking one from and passing around. Each Pilot would be two pilots, so there are enough dials/bases. I'm nervous to say just two lists because then I'm always just going to single draft a faction, because then I have the most options for what fits in 200 points.
edit: i'm not saying it's 100% different factions, just that I can't think of why mono faction wouldn't be the correct choice. I'll have to do some test runs and see if mono faction is even reasonable.

prepare to be judged (probably)
My instant reaction to 2 different lists was just to draft monofaction. Since the factions are reasonably balanced (presumably) and aren't completely pigeon holed with a set to strength/weaknesses, unlike Magic, you're not punished for it. Though I guess it does make you easier to hate draft... Still the benefits outweigh the marginal at best detriments to the point that anyone not doing it is wrong. So would definitely vote 2 faction.
Also are we doing this at Gencon or is this for a semi-official format like objectives? If the former who is the sacrificial idiot who has to stand in that line? (and can he buy me a couple things while he's there...?)

Since I live in the area, at least I will make Nationals. This is also the 2nd year in a row where someone decided to have a wedding the same weekend. Luckily I am not a part of the wedding party, so be on the lookout for probably the only guy in a suit on Sunday.

Planning on doing the morning line thursday, then giving it a shot right when we get stuff if you're interested.

I may be available if I can get my delivery done quickly enough. It’d be a good time to meet up anyway so I can handover stuff for @Kaptin Krunch anyway.

Yup, definitely interested. Hopefully we'll make it through the line by 4PM...
Anyone else from the thread staying near the airport?

I get what you mean about that, and if doing it to be competitively fun, maybe do two different factions. My priority was getting the cards to keep though, so I guess it depends.
