That can only be answered by...what do you like? There are plenty of demo events, plenty of demos ad hoc in the vendor hall, plenty of open play gaming (Rio Grande room is great for that), etc. Also, if do you have a group you're going with or going solo?

I like X-Wing and kinda other Star Wars FFG games, but I'm getting out of those investments to make more 2nd Ed investments. Going with my wife because she's also never been there and she's a nerd + enjoys conventions too. I'll likely bring an X-Wing list for potential pick up games. For me it's the more Star Wars the better, for my wife it's likely shop/walk around to see cool new things. We haven't signed up for any events yet.

I'll be going for my first time this year and this seems correct. Also not playing in the North American Championship. What else should I do besides walk around everywhere?

I love going to the game development hall. You can sign up ahead of time for a better pick, or just walk in and get seated at whatever is available. You basically demo in-development games with the designers as they're trying to iron out the wrinkles. It's often fun, and generally pretty interesting, even if you wind up testing a lousy game.

Edit: my god, the lack of autocorrect.

That actually sounds really cool. Is that available everyday and will it be the same games everyday it's open?

I think it's going every day. It's not the same games all the time, though. It's divided into 2 hour blocks. A lot of times it seems developers will run their game every other time block so they can take a break, as a lot of these are pretty small time hobbyists with limited time and money. Some might do only one day as well. I'm not sure if there are pre-published schedules. I just showed up.

@Kaptin Krunch, Esege is actually super useful in HotAC. We had a moldy crow HWK with Esege's ability and Garven's ability flying around spamming focus everywhere. It was hilarious.

While we're talking about ships being ugly, I don't particularly think the E-Wing is hideous. And the cannon on the top there probably doesn't restrict the pilot's vision any more than your average TIE variant's wings.

I think the K-Wing is very cool. A little big, but now that it's on a realistic-sized base? Strong.

And the TIE Defender is beautiful. I loved it ever since I set eyes on the LEGO set and was too young and naive to know whatever video game it came from. I still remember trying to make Boba/Rexler work back before the aces pack. Because when I first started playing, I refused to listen to anyone's advice on what a "good" list was.

I personally don't think the TIE Punisher is pretty, and I think people say they love it just because they feel cool for liking something that isn't meta. Just sending a TIE Bomber to the gym and having it get swole doesn't make it magically better. I will admit, it's interesting, but it's typical Star Wars Galaxies: not subtle or really thought through of a design, and sort of hodge-podge. I like ships that look like Ralph McQuarrie might have had a concept sketch for them somewhere, and there's no way he would have designed something as over-the-top as the Punisher.

Man, the world is your oyster. You could quite literally spend an entire day in the vendor hall, particularly if you demo games there. At least plan for half a day for it and try to pick a starting corner and go up and down all of the aisles. If you wander haphazardly, that's not bad, but you'd be surprised how much stuff you could end up missing.

I recommend waving off True Dungeon. There are some folks who are big fans, but I found it kind of boring and not worth the cost. Also, if you get thrown in a group with some alpha-types, they basically ruin the entire experience (what little there is). Some of the themeing and actors are really cool to see, but the "game" itself, I found "meh".

Other than that, I'm not really sure. It's easy to find oneself just meandering and not really "doing" anything...which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but you could come away from the convention feeling like you experienced, but didn't participate, if that makes sense. I'd recommend going over the event list, as huge as it is, and try to find a couple things which you might find interesting.

Yeah, that - it was fun, but only because of company. Actual thing was way overhyped.

Oh, man, now I want to make an E-wing re-cut to look as much like an F22 as possible.

I was almost mad at this, but I'm less upset about it with the 2.0 e wings. The e wing and the f35 really are perfect mirrors for each other if you followed the development of either though.

I remember reading about the problems the F-35 faced and thinking “**** the US government built an E-wing.”

I know, but if I'm bothering to do conversions, I'm not converting something to an F35.

If I get a defender center and put 3 ewings for the wings, can it still be an ewing?

Where does the peg mount to the base?

Use a B-Wing peg to mount it from behind so that you can attach all the E-Wings using a ball-bearing so they spin like a real Defender.

If you have 6 silencers hanging around you can take two of them, stick the wings together to make a "\__/" shape with them and they fit right into the divots of each of the defender wing arrays.

Hard to describe but it's hilarious looking in person. That's how you make a 100 point defender.

I just mean that if it attachs to e wing its an ewing, if it attaches to the defender its a defender

Heh. If a lot of people really are selling off their collections, this might be a good time to buy cheap models and kitbash some uglies!

I'm looking on Ebay for collections that have Upsilons now, as I want a second one because it looks cool- OTOH, I don't think that a double- Upsilon build is going to be good unless they make a typo in the point cost. Maybe I should try to trade my 4 Kihraxz for GUNBOATs?

Old T is back baby! Taking away ALL your green tokens now :P
