We'll, yes. I'm wondering if it's standard level private equity crazy debt level, or next level "even having a lock on the Star Wars miniature licence and many other top IP won't save our value" debt level.

I'm betting b), but the bare level investments made in staffing and resources for said staff and the like suggests that costs are probably not that high, which makes eeking out 100mil EBITDA very strange given the expected volumes of all those games they have the licence to.

I knew Asmodee buying FFG was not a good sign, but I never tracked down Asmodee's ownership structure. To me, private equity strongly means "don't get attached."

Oops, too much content again: 100pts Miranda is fair and balanced, 2/3 of the ships barely attack! She has only 1 agility and can do at most 2 TLT damage per turn, git gud if you can't solve that puzzle ;)

The SW license and FFG are just a part of Asmodee, they're more in the publishing and distribution side of things than FFG alone is. So extrapolating Asmodee's overall health or operations from what we know of FFG doesn't really work.

Also if they're (accurately) valuing themselves at $1.7B, which would include debt, that's a ratio of 17, while higher than average it's somewhat to be expected after a bunch of acquisitions like they just went through.

Private equity = we're just here for the monies. If there's no monies, we gone.

There's no intrisic nobility to their existence. It's just simply to make money. They are human locust. Devour, consume what you can. Leave a path of destruction in your wake.

I've been riding the board game revival for about 10 years now. I think it's due for a big downturn. Too much **** being pumped out, and there's only so much creative spin you can put on new games. People are going to start suffering fatigue and stop buying.

Completely agree. The question is what form is the downturn going to take? Because it's not going to hit everyone evenly. Will it hit the big names hardest or sweep away all the brand new minor players and kickstarters? Guessing the biggest casualties will be FLGSs that have just been hanging on as is.

That was part of my point. Asmodee has way more games than just FFG produced ones, I thought the number was low for all those holdings. I know Days of Wonder are owned by Asmodee, and they make quite a few very popular games that top the rank of 'known game you should try to get into the hobby'. Games Workshop market cap is 800mil, CMON is at 400mil. Something as large as Asmodee, encompassing so many popular brands, I was expecting to be worth more.

And for @LagJanson: Dengaroo was a positive play experience, cause they (re)rolled so many dice and made you reroll so many dice. Everyone loves rolling dice, that's why they play x-wing, and Dengaroo was peak dice rolling for everyone!

Probably the difference between "lots of people pay several hundred dollars total on several of our games" vs "a few people pay thousands of dollars on one of our games" maybe it ends up being closer than it seems at first blush.

Speaking of our favorite sass droid, (Sorry 3PO) anyone have any clue what his ability will be? (Besides make people play the U-wing)

Plus, it didn’t even make final table at Worlds, so it’s probably Tier 2 at best!

Come to think of it... Any bets Miranda will have any regen/spend of shields in 2.0? She's already gutted by losing TLT, action bombs. She's a medium base now too... The K-Wing will never be the same!

Miranda can go die in a fire. Her ability is probably offense only.

Seeing as the K-wing was the most obscure EU ship they released with the most unheard of characters, the fact that it was also one of the most popular ships sales-wise shows just how much it dominated/warped the game since release.

****, nearly 100% of K-wings are Miranda, might as well just sum it up as "Miranda ruined the game"
