They did tone down Ion, so hopefully they are also reworking Tractor to be less binary between useless and NPE? I'm not sure how to do that though?

It gets a slight nerf with the reworking of barrel roll in general. You get a little less freedom to move the ship. You also get range bonuses on "special" weapons for defense.

Hmm Predator is Bullseye arc only. Seems like they're really toning down the ease of using passive mods. Predator sounds like a good EPT for Soontir now that PTL is gone, and it goes well with his ability.

Did we get a clean view of Soontir's ability text? I've only seen a partial version (something about bullseye arc and assigning focus)

Yep, definitely rewarding positioning and planning. Good stuff!

Most passive mod EPTs appear to be bullseye only. They better be cheap, cause most players are not that good ;)

Age of X-Wing, No more points costs, just field something that feels "fair"

Outside of "Control Bots" when was it ever "meta relevant" as a stand alone cannon? It's an opportunity cost.

1) Hope you don't go up against large base ships where's it's largely irrelevant

2) Fire it in hopes of getting a ship on a rock or out of arc at the cost of dealing damage.

The only time it was fairly abusive was when it was part of the Shadowcaster title. Because then you were dealing damage & possibly costing the opponent a shot. It was best of both worlds.

don't know about meta relevant but Tractors are a blast on double tie /d Defenders. Big ship? Still affects their agility to great effect, especially when both tie/d's pop it with TB tokens.

Someone mentioned to ask whether the player designed cards are reappearing in 2E... which causes me to think, did some of our newer champions get let in on the secret?

probably yes. When the playtester list comes out, I suspect they will be on it.

The list in the unboxing video had Daddy, X wing Dad, Namy, and Misary among others. I don’t recall seeing Nand or Justin

Generally, yes for ion, but you can get more than one ion token applied in a hit which makes it possible to ion medium and large ships in a single shot.

Since you are concerned on not falling to page 2, I'll throw a potentially controversial opinion: aren't you guys concerned that, with all that focus on making harder to modify dice in 2.0 (bullseye linked predator, no ptl to focus and TL, no ridicoulous combo like Ezra Maul and such), the game might end up being more luck reliant than today?

Right now red dice variance is somehow mitigated by modification stacking, are we heading to a future where the best way to ensure a positive is just throwing more and more red dice (generic spam) or just use those 3-4 force users?

I think that’s a good question, and someone made that argument to me at worlds when discussing 2.0, so I’ve thought about it some. Generally, I’m not worried.

Every time you take an action that is not a focus or TL, you are usually ‘making up for’ a suboptimal maneuver. In this regard, good maneuvers and prediction are rewarded with modded shots, and bad ones get to be unmodded (mostly).

Thus, harder to modify dice is a result of poorer decision (it appears).

As for force users, I’m going under the assumption that 1) they’re expensive, and 2) there probably aren’t very many of them (like, make a list: it’s short).

I typically find that in games where both players dice can't be perfectly modified every turn the "quality" of their movement choices is highlighted a tiny bit more.

Basically over the course of the game the player who repositions less and initially positions better has more tokens, more blocks, better range, approaches from the angles they want, or k-turns/sloops less.

The biggest thing in my mind is that when 100% of your dice can't be passively modified, every single action decision and movement decision matters more.

You also have to balance that red dice variance with the reduced defensive stacking and changes to evade. Outside of stealth device the most Evades that Soontir can get is 3. Not 4. Autothrusters is no longer there for defensive buffs. Plus the simple fact that Red dice have better sides than green dice. Ships will be easier to hit in 2.0 than 1.0.

Also this is something I am genuinely looking forward to seeing in practice and have very little direct experience with at a tournament level or outside of casual games were we forced generics onto the table.

Multiple ( 5+ ) Low PS ships should have the advantage of more dice. I have never played that version of competitive X-Wing. I hear it was pretty good
