1-bank is just the Defender version of the TIE Fighter's hard 1.

If I was to look for a 1.0 squad to practice up for 2.0, is there anything better than non-engine Vader with a mini swarm? Single reposition arc dodger and formation flying seem important.
Maybe shadowcasters for the mobile arc? Kimos for lining up a bullseye? What other skills can we work on?

The Ocho, for maximum Swarm Memery.
I know a few other people were tentatively getting into Shadespire too, and a funny thing seems to have happened. At the very point X-Wing looks to be saved GW seem to have reverted to type. Relic decks are generating a degree of salt roughly equivalent to pre-nerf TS Nym/Miranda...

I think any simple, arced ship is going to be good practice. X-wings, TIE Fighters, etc. Right now, the X-wings are probably marginally competitive. 5 low PS guys or a couple named pilots and a couple rookies.

Run Interceptors, but do it without autothrusters and don’t ever push to focus and evade. They still get double reposition goodness in 2e looks like, since they can link any action to a BR or boost.

Kimos are a good bet. With Vader you can still boost just only after 3-5 speed moves I think.

whoa - make sure your opponent is also in.
Running any "2.0" list against current meta is going to be more than painful

And it's only good for three uses. Boost wisely.

These two bits are probably the best advice. I don't see the need to hamstring yourself by purposefully not including upgrades which will just make your squad worse. Just fly stuff with arcs.
Edited by gennataosIts kinda great when everyone opts in for a similar type game.
Ran 3 Tie Strikers + Inquisitor vs 5 X-Wings yesterday. Was incredibly fun.
Now that worlds is over people seem to be really starting to embrace the Arc game.

I don't know how often I've heard "I forgot they could do that" after revealing a 1 bank on a Defender.

Lies! It is not treason to live long enough to defeat the Emporer's enemies!

Right, if you want to also play good meta stuff, not just play for giggles and to practice 2e stuff, you’re in trouble.

Play 32 point Silencers (FCS/Autothrusters/Optics). You point and shoot like a 2.0 list, but you have the brawny jousting advantages to help overpower turrets and heavy defense.

I am so glad I have run nothing but Palpfree Vader Imp Aces since last year.
Get to do more of the same against less of the 1.0 pain.

Yeah, I'm like "everything I like to play the most gets a bit worse, and everything most powerful in the meta gets tremendously worse, cool."

I really hope defenders just lose the x7 title. I AM READY FFG.
If they make them cheaper I'd be super ok with that.

I'd kinda like to see them go the other direction. In the lore defenders are just like the most expensive fancy thing ever right? They could do that.
...for a price.

In Galactic Credit terms, Defenders cost as much as 5 standard ties for the Empire to purchase.

lol, I just bought a second (second hand, no pun intended!) defender blister for that very reason!

I'm telling you, in a world without turrets and Autothrusters, a Defender, even untitled, is a pretty durable platform. They'll likely keep some type of cannon special rules. If they keep the white K (understandable if they don't) they're a solid ship.
In wave 6, which had lots of offense, just not Jumpmaster levels of offense, the HLC Defender could last a reasonable number of turns, and 2.0 looks to have notably lower offense than that era.

Oof. Thank god you couldn't 60 pts fortress with a lone wolf x7 defender.

Oh I believe you, I just meant I like the idea of a more expensive defender. Double D being 200 points could be cool. Imperial brobots style stuff.

Half points for small bases in 2.0 any consolation?
