This panic over conversion kits... I just lost my faith in the community.

Right? If I sat down and thought real hard about how to best transition to a second edition, it'd be hard for me to come up with a more reasonable solution that what FFG is doing here.

I just don't get it.
And on it goes
FFG has actually said they the FO/Res packs won't be as expensive - and I think will have more stuff for each ship compared to Imp/Reb.
19 minutes ago, GreenDragoon said:I just don't get it.
- It's just $1.50 per dial+cards
- They included two or more of each. How many lists have we been playing where we use more than two of each? And why should that even matter? There is no reason to believe that the same stuff will work again. 3-4 Auzitucks were great, but maybe they won't be in 2.0, so why agonize so much over it?
- Most of us have dust collectors on the shelves right now. Not converting all of them will not change anything
- We will very likely be able to use MORE of our ships, even if not converting all of them
- The panic about FO/Resistance as single faction. Why do all assume these packs, too, will be $50? There are around 3 ships Resistance (T70, Falcon, Bomber) and 4 for the FO (/SF, /FO, Silencer, Upsilon), why should that be as expensive?!
And on it goes
Yup. I've been telling people to calm the **** down and let the developers get content released and into our hands. Then we as a community come back together and work with each other to trade into factions that we want to continue with. I honestly don't see myself following *both* Empire and FO. Or both the Resistance and the Rebels. I'll pick one. And then trade ships to round out what I need. I don't think the "completionist" mentally is going to work well going forward. Between model costs, the tightening of faction identity and less cross faction upgrades in each expansion, buying multiple copies of every ship each wave to chase cards will be less of a thing.

Amen to this. FFG has made an amazing decision, and they're doing it far better than I expected.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the new game works. Sure, it's buying a bit to convert over, and I'm making every effort to save some dollars here and there, but I'm making my purchasing plans and trying to figure out my way forward from here.
Argh. FFS.
So, moving along. I'm liking a lot of what I've seen so far. If, hypothetically, the game has been successfully reset, I think we all have one burning question...
Does the Hawk still have a 1 primary attack?

I'm certain it will be a 2 primary. I'm also fairly confident that the Sheathipede shuttle will not have a white coordinate action.

Making the coordinate red on the Sheathipede is an elegant solution for Fenn Rau (he cannot coordinate AND use his ability in the same turn), but there's so many unknowns about 2.0 it's hard to evaluate such an interaction without more context.

I've actually got a pretty gud gut feeling the 'Pede won't get coordinate at all. But hedging my bets that at the least it will be red.

Its so frustrating when the player who plays better wins.

But I used to be able to use veteran instincts so I could see where my opponent went so that I could barrel roll, push the limit to a boost to outmaneuver him! I was good at this game! Reeeeee!

That'll still be a thing right since Initiative Bids exist in 2.0 as well? Or did they change that a bit?
Im kinda speculating that anything that can double reposition still and is at PS6 is going to run a healthy bid.
Also...

Double positioning looks to be a whole lot more interesting to achieve. With a greater cost to get there. Also, the failed actions means somebody should be danged sure that barrel roll is going to fit before they call it.

My main hope is that they tone down the "free" dice modification stuff. That way if you do double reposition instead of assigning Tokens you are genuinely vulnerable.
i.e. Soontir and Jake and boost barrel roll all they want...but if they do it to much pop the first time a mistake is made.

Looks like they've toned it down a lot. There's going to be a real shift in how the game is played because things are going to die!
