The following is not ****-posting, and is not "X-wings 2 Stronk" conplaining.
While it's nice that the T-65 is good, this expansion cements my fears about FFG being unwilling to use errata to fix problems, limiting themselves to creating new mechanics and enforcing a mandatory spiral of powercreep. This basically is confirming that balance changes will be tied to the product release cycle indefinitely. This reminds me of 6th/7th edition of 40k, and that's super discouraging. If they announced a living point cost/rules document/app on the 1st, I'd be more on-board than a superglue enthusiast cheating at a surfing competition though. I'll spend the money for the expansions pretty much regardless of card content (err, spend the store credit I win at least), I just want the game to be fun.
Am I wrong in thinking that some change to the underlying system of content production needs to change? Someone talk some sense into me.

They got three options:
All 3 approaches have issues.
Power creep is probably the best way to handle it in the short term. Provided they don't power creep incorrect things. Someday we will escape the 47-75 pt Doom Meta.

You can buff things via errata as well- Heavy Syck and (oh god do they probably regret it now) Cluster mines.
Would it be hard to say "Red Squad T-65 now has EPT"?
My concern is that buffing via product releases means a 2 year wait time/delay between meta patches.

On one hand I'm in agreement, this is some serious power creep more importantly complexity creep.
On the other hand I don't think anything less was going to make a difference for the T-65. It had a crappy dial, no post move maneuverability, and generic upgrade slots that too many other ships share to buff through them. Just a point discount was never going to work. I mean sure they could have made them so cheap that they became the most efficient thing by far. But I'm not sure that actually would have been entertaining
Edited by MakazeHey @Biophysical there's some xwing content in this one, heads up
I'm not sure we can handle actual content after so long. I'm scared, I don't remember what it feels like.

I thought we eased nicely into it
Innovative content as always.
Its like a real time Battle Report built on the power of imagination.

Why is actual content news dragging this thread down the first page?
How far could a basic Ghost/Fenn AI get at Worlds?
If you made all of your movement decisions based on a Range Band/Movement Chart do you think it could go at least 3-3?

I think maybe we're all just sad, listening to @Brunas fly X-Wings badly... and be defeated by Ghost/Fenn flown worse.
That said, it's left me considering actually updating Vassal and trying the same thing for myself. I'm excited, though I think TLT still murders X-Wings no matter what platform they've been welded to. 5 X-Wings likely won't be the salvation of the game.

I'll bet 4-2... provided you've put some AI in there about rocks and the edge of the map, similar to HotAC... (just pre-planned, not after the opponent has moved then change the dial, thank you)
first page: omg xwing's are awesome
second page: omg x-wing is dying. doom and gloom

Give it a shot - they're fun. Also, it's probably a safe assumption something will eventually be done about ghost/fenn so that matchup is probably not that important.

Oh hey, if I don't give it a shot I won't be able to live down the shame. Our local group expects me to fly 5. It's absolutely going to be fun, four was fun too, and five should be about 20% more fun. To be perfectly honest, I want one game against Ghost/Fenn with five X-Wings. It was hard to picture some of your choices from the audio, but I think there were a few I may have done differently. Also note - I still expect to lose, but there's a glimmer of a chance there that I'd like to see if it's anything more than a mirage.

I'd consider not knowing what you are doing a feature with ghost fenn. As long as the ai is an American I'm willing to accept it as world champ ![]()

Everyone's in the discord now I suspect. As cool as becoming the biggest thread on the forum would be, itd be even more dank to just pull a mayans and disappear overnight

If somebody pulled that off, I'll bring Canadian beer down for GenCon... New bounty?

Are you in the discord with a different username?
So serious question here - if the ghost lost the system slot (no sensor jammer) would it be enough to put it into beatable territory? Would losing the sensor jammer tilt the damage race enough vs other lists that the Fenn Ghost player actually has to be smarter?

It'd help, but I doubt it's enough.
Rational: Kanan/Biggs as an example didn't use to run Sensor Jammer either. "Yeah, but that was Kanan!" Without sensor jammer you can now afford Kanan. Also, Fenn Rau is still denying a ship modifiers, and can still boost the Ghost out of arc at PS11.
That's my gut feeling
