So, important question that's totally X-Wing relevant. For years, my brother and I shared the same Steam account and all was good. But we started wanting to play things at the same time frequently enough that I had to get my own account earlier this year (the one I have now that has like 4 games on it).

Anyway, I miss all of my old games so once school's out for the semester I'm going to go on a Steam binge. All the LEGO games, all the classic Star Wars flight sims, and probably Shadows of the Empire are going on there. Any other games you guys suggest I get?

After all the quotes and podcasts, I want to get CnC. Which one is the best?

It's worth noting btw that Steam does fairly frequently have sales that have this star wars pack go on sale for $100 or less, so worth waiting for that! Lots of good games in there.

If you like RTS, I would also heartily recommend Company of Heroes (both are good, 2 is newer and more active multiplayer community). Newer than the real classics, but old enough that you can get them on pretty steep sales as well, and yet still have well supported servers and community.

Beyond that you'll have to be a bit more specific on what sorts of genres you enjoy. There's definitely gems in almost every genre that you can usually pick up very cheaply on Steam or GoG these days.

Thanks! Yeah, I'll probably wait until the summer sale before reaquiring any Star Wars games.

Honestly, FPS is my least favorite genre. I'll play anything. RTS is fun, I like Grand Strategy, I like racing sims, flight sims, RPGs, top down shooters, etc.

As a die-hard Gameboy fan, I'll play any retro, 8-bit indie games too.

I am not very critical when it comes to game genres. I just want to know what people think is good.

I probably won't play all those weird anime games though. Sorry Chris.

Get Civilization V. You will spend days on that game.

Had my eye on that for a while. I have literally spent days playing Europa Universalis IV. My one qualm about Civilization is that it's not as historically accurate. But it looks like a load of fun, so I think I'll download the demo when I get home.

It's legit a ton of fun. Perfect mix of optimization, exploration, conquest, etc. Can do multiplayer too. We should get a game going one weekend with some other Krayts. Compstomp or FFA, whatever works.

The CnC bundle is often 10$ on origin, if not cheaper.

they are the same game, but like 1000% more expensive. Origin isn't that bad.

I honestly prefer the first one, the original.

C&C 1 > 2

C&C 3 > 2

C&C 4 < all of them

Red Alert 1 < Red Alert 2

Red Alert 3 > Red Alert 2

They are all so good tho, it's hard to choose. I've been playing C&C RA3 a bit since the pod cast and decided I like C&C3 better only because I like harvesters and fields of materials instead of the "depot" style for resource gathering. The units in RA3 are really silly and cool tho.

I've said it before: Surprise FAQ, taking effect immediately (our store is open and well stocked, so go buy more ships)!

It makes the community happy, generates a whole lot of sales, and is just a super fun trainwreck to watch.

I'd also enjoy Streaming Rules, because Floor rules are last year's thing. About who is responsible for cheating (the streamer), who should do something about it (no one), what one should do when faced with cheating (git gud and cheat better), etc. Bonus points for mandating that live chats are forbidden to be used along with streams.

I'm not that salty, but this would rain way more fun salt than any attempt at fixing the game would!
