but in X-wing, defense is also offense, unfortunately. Medic at least loses the ability to attack in exchange for healing someone else.

As a note, this is why when major leagues were developing their rulesets, Medic Stacking was the first thing to be banned.

In fact, the major 3rd party banlists and restrictions are mostly made to prevent stalemates and defense stacking.

Competitive TF2- The game with weapon bans and class restrictions chosen to keep matches from stalemating. It also resulted in a "You must be this fast" line to what was meta viable until the JI update.

G.R.U. was changed to drain 10 max health per second when active- Now if you take 12 seconds to run to Mid, you have as much health as a Demoman when you arrive, and your medic can't heal that for you.

I'll have to download TF2 and get spanked by a krayt sign. sounds like a fun way to spend an evening after I put the kiddo to bed.

I fired up Mechwarrior Online for the first time in years to get in the mood for Battletech (so much hype) and Solaris 7 gladiator 1v1 / 2v2 just launched this week. Pretty fun! But man did I get stomped... won only 1 game (Arctic Cat vs Atlas) out of 15.

So, forum meta question: Do we keep using this for general discussion, or just abandon the X-wing forums completely and move to discord?

My wife, son and I are going to check out the calgary comic expo next weekend, Will Wheaton meet and sign passes are in hand. I'm thinking of getting him to sign some X-wing dice. probably a pair of red and green. They will always come up blank with his luck, but so worth it.

As much as the lack of a dark theme hurts my eyes here, I think we owe it to the community to stay here. Also, the Discord requires you to ask somebody for the link and then set it up, so no random new people would know how to join that. We must continue to grow our ranks!

So you know how the Krayts are one-of-a-kind, and everyone wishes there were more podcasts like them...

Just a thought... since there's a voice chat on Discord but apparently no push-to-talk (so you can hear everything going on in everyone's houses), should we just record that next time we play TF2 and call it a podcast?

It'll be great, I swear. Definitely not just an hour of my mom bringing me food and me saying "not now mom, I'm playing with my friends!"
