Then the people are wrong. the correct answer is Star Wars Defenders: the miniatures Game. Expect a poorly-written and ill-conceived fanfic when @Brunas publishes the videos (someday he will, or maybe he has, in which case: get Rekt future me.)

Why not both? Star Wars Gunboats and Defenders: the Miniatures Game. Or we can just call it "TIE Fighter: The Miniatures Game" because the coolest ships came from that PC game.

I can probably answer parts of this for him actually, because I think we've had this discussion before.
The GUNBOAT is not very common in the canon, so its obscurity is one problem with it.
It's also not a TIE, so when a new player sees it and doesn't recognize it from the EU, they usually don't know it's Imperial or even Star Wars.
And it's weirdly powerful, with the good dial, SLAM, multiple loadouts, and tons of hitpoints.
And the many quickly moving and powerful arcs of quadruple Mangler/Flechette Boats makes Kylo (or any ace for that matter) very sad, which also makes @Do I need a Username sad.

To be clear, I don't think the Gunb^H^H^H^HAlpha-class Starwing is garbage, but -- to me, as someone who never played the video games -- it's just another obscure Star Wars ship that I recognize as Star Wars only because of thematic design similarities with the Lambda-class shuttle. That's not a slam -- see what I did there? -- because the StarViper is even more obscure, and it slowly infected my brain until now it's among my favorite ships in X-Wing.
Anyway, the Alpha-class Starwing is a good, pretty well-balanced ship, but I'm a little annoyed that it got full utility from SLAM -- one of the most powerful actions in the game -- while FFG was simultaneously pimp-slapping the (non-Miranda) K-wing, the ship for which SLAM was actually designed. (IMO, Slam should have been nerfed, and Advanced SLAM left alone. But that makes way too much sense.)

Seems fun! I'd maybe get rid of a Nu, make 'em all the EPT generics or aces, and give 'em all Flechette Cannons and Crackshot. And HLCs on the GUNBOATS.
