I AGREE with both statements.
I take it seriously at work, because those laws affect people's lives, but this is just a game, it's not meant to be SERIOUS BUSINESS.
I'm usually the one contorting rules, for fun, because breaking existing rules teaches you a lot about writing proper ones and just logic in general. I fondly remember gaming scoring systems in web-based games so many times decades ago (why play the game as intended when you can just reverse-engineer and game the scoring formula?). That being said, arguing semantics with a body of rules that was built over time and obviously not intended to be watertight (or even to work together) is a losing proposition.
A lot of the "wargamer culture" has been puzzling to me these past 2.5 years. The need to be "right" about rules interpretation is still the most puzzling. I'd also add that repetition is not conclusive proof, but the world has proven quite effectively that it might actually count as proof nowadays...
Until FAQed otherwise, I'll keep going with common frickin' sense as the basis to interpret RAW.

We have a precedent issue now. Where a regional at FFG HQ is seen (wrongly?) as precedent setting but the "OMG largest SOS EVAR" might not be.
It almost feels as if someone should have a session of "send us all your crazy questions" Q&A session to clean up this mess instead of leaving it up to random TOs and Judges to interpret very awkward wording.
The super fun situation I could be in, should anyone actually bring French X-wing content to a tournament, is not one I'm looking forward too. I avoided, on purpose, looking at translated cards, since I'm pretty sure none of them are done correctly (translation is an art, not a science, and can go so wrong so easily). I'll keep hoping no one brings them!

It all depends upon who the marshal is. Alex is waaaay on the side of RAW. Frank is more RAI. I don't have a gauge on Max yet.
Alex will likely not be involved with X-Wing during Worlds so I'd say that Tractor Beam folks will likely be able to have the template overlap.

PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)-- A man was arrested after deputies say he was spinning nunchucks in the middle of the road.
According to his arrest citation, 36-year-old Kenneth Gill was standing on Holiness Road Tuesday trying to get a 15-year-old to come fight him.
It went on to say that Gill stepped onto the property, saying he owned it and had a right to because he was a state trooper.
Witnesses say Gill hit a tree with the nunchucks and then went onto another property.
A neighbor found him underneath her porch.
Police later found him in an orange pickup truck, where he told investigators he was an FBI agent.
