Okay guys, im just gonna crowdsource what I take to Michigan from y'all. Do I take the best list that has a good ghost fenn matchup(foss aces) or, since people are bringing the "counter to the counter" with bombs do I go 4d chess and make those people see what x wing really doesn't look like and bring ego

I’d say ego. You have a certain amount of fun with it and a very large amount of practice. People realize Ghost Fenn isn’t fun and they’d all rather bring counters than the list.

There will be ghosts, but they will be sub-optimally tweaked for the mirror or bad.

What do they mean? Do we know? Will we ever know? Also, in terms of looking at arcs and stuff:

At this points, Arcs are entirely garbage. Because PWTs have no punishment for using said turret, and no reason to not use said turret (Exception: Rey/Dengar). In fact, the ability to move out of the way of an arc ship and still attack is MASSIVE. The only reasons to be using an Arced ship is if the Offense is Significantly, and measurably higher (i.e. Phantoms, Gunboats), such that you can punch worth 2-3 turns of damage in one shot to make up for lost time, or the defense is measurably higher (i.e. Early Phantoms, Soontir Fel) such that they can avoid 2-3 turns of damage to get back to the shooting, or, finally, If you can maintain arc on target EVERY TURN reliably (i.e. Kylo, Defenders (to some extent), and BB8Norra) to avoid to 2-3 turn lag time. As for why turrets have grown in the meta, I think it has less to do with the turrets getting measurably better (which they have) and more to do with new players coming into the game. the first game I played was against Dengar/Kath, and I got dumpstered. I have never built a list without wondering how I handle turrets. It has been an issue, and someone getting into the game knows that they re real, and ware willing to play them. Counter to people who got in earlier, and you weren't sold on turrets, but new players were.

As for what to bring, when in doubt, bring Bob.

In all seriousness however, I think Zeb is the best way to measure how good a ghost is because he is almost the only element in every Ghost list.

Simple. Shiny. Chrome. Easy to use. Not very stressful. Dopamine every round. Its candy crush.

These are ships and combos that exist specifically to reduce the anxiety of playing a multiplayer game.

Meets the needs and preferences of a large target market for X-Wing and thats ok.

Problem is the slot machines in this case are designed to pay out more often than they probably should.

When they do FFG just makes more money in both the short term and long term thanks to the IP.

This isn't some forgotten niche hipster brand like Star Trek. This is Star Wars. This is Marvel Superheroes in space.

It doesn't actually have to be good or nuanced for people to want to consume it.

Complexity and depth help expand the audience slightly, but its not at all necessary.

"Dogfighting", "Skill", "Arcs", "Dials", "Maneuvers"....these are all buzzwords for marketing material, not core game mechanics.

there is still stuff to learn, because the field data is ‘too heavy’ since people are more likely to fill out lists if they did better, which is still useful, but we won’t get the universe of lists/breakdowns

You missed a solid opportunity for Dual of the Krayts to censor Kraytcoin talk. Funny thing is that it's not unlike you guys to play that for extended periods of time so nobody would've second guessed it.

Bummer. I only get 32 lists from Indiana anyway, but that sucks. Especially because I now have to change the **** **** again

On the plus side I can include Norfolk by now because they entered more than 10 lists in the meantime.

So has it been discussed enough yet that it seems the tippy top boogie man list in every meta is consistently deemed “unfun” to play? Are we sure this isn’t just another way how scrubs try to demonize those players who choose to fly it? Because I refuse to believe that players willingly give up any chance at fun for 12 hours+ of their life just so they can say they won something of relatively little value in comparison to the time invested.
