Not if we make our own sky, with blackjack, and you know...

A lot still going on, but it's been only bombs and turrets with a small sprinkle of raclo all over the country.

Bombs seem bad against the Ghost. Does it look like they're teching for the Ghost counter?

Bombs do enough damage to get 16 through on a ghost. I watched it in green bay!

And more importantly, they dumpster all the now <PS10 stuff with expertise trying to deal with ghost/fenn, and also fenn.

At least an Upsilon/Blackout list took 1st in swiss at a Spanish regional. Though I am pretty sure Wookies vs Ghost was the final.

Test Pilot "Blackout"(43) [Test Pilot "Blackout"(31), Push The Limit(3), Fire Control System(2), Autothrusters(2), Threat Tracker(3), First Order Vanguard(2)]

Kylo Ren(55) [Kylo Ren(34), Expert Handling(2), Engine Upgrade(4), Advanced Sensors(3), Emperor Palpatine(8), Kylo Ren's Shuttle(2), Advanced Optics(2)]

I always assumed crits were merely a suggestion for people wanting to spice up their game experience.

BTW, isn't the guy who ignored all the crits the same guy who went all rules lawyer on a double firespray player on stream the day before? I didn't have the audio, so might be mistaken.

Was it a lot of Nym reveal bombs, then?

Lots of Nym, yeah

Also, on a related note to us finally uploading:

If you're a bored software dev and want to screw around with kraytcoin, let me know. My free time is currently an unrelated project, but one I don't think will take too long, and frankly a predictive market (with no actual money on the line) for the xwing meta sounds completely hilarious and interesting, so I'd like to make it.

By the way, I‘m also going through regional data. 1306 lists, around 7500 games.

Turns out that 47% of ships have a normal arc, and that excludes every ship equipping turrets or Dash.

But a squad has more ships than one, and thus you‘re chance to encounter at least one turret* changes to 62% if - and that‘s a big if - rear arcs are counted as normal arcs. (E: and generally whether you agree with my split into normal and non-normal arc)

Regarding fat turrets: I define them for practical purposes as ship with 9 or more HP and a SWT, PWT or mobile arc. 27% of all ships fit that definition, and staggering 57% of all squads have at least one (with 237 lists having more than one). However that does include Scurrgs with autoblaster, or BSF17 bombers. It‘s up for debate whether they should be.

edit: *turret used as shortcut for primary weapon turrets, secondaryturrets, mobile arcs, and auxiliary (180deg)

Both of the Australian Regionals were won by Palp Aces this weekend. So far imperials have won 4 out of 5 Australian Regionals (Kylo Boats before people worked out how to dumpster them) and 3 identical Palp Aces lists (Yorr, Inq, Expertise QD) the 5th regionals was won by Miranda Nym the weekend before the nerf hit but that was Western Australia and we don't like to talk about them :)

Trip Wookiees. 4-2, missed the cut, the curse is real, in the most brutal fashion.

If you missed by 34 MoV or less, I’m sorry.

I was correct when i said It was the game before when I lost two wookies in the final two turns that did it. Missed the cut by like 70 mov

Coming out of my morning/travel fog something popped into my head that I missed during the podcast. @sozin asked me about tlt during the 2016 meta, but it goes back further than that. 2015 worlds was the first major event that tlt was legal for, and all my pre worlds prep and list building went into fighting tlt spam and palp aces. I built a janky rebel control squad with the intent on being able to ps kill a y wing or create a giant no go zone of stress. The things that came out after worlds were less wholesome, and I learned to range control really really well vs quad tlt so it kinda wound up on the mental backburner, but dang, has been an issue since the second it hit.

@Tlfj200

about your point of meta diversity: I thought so too before you mentioned it. IMO the difference is not just the amount of lists, but the amount of „top lists“ and how close they are to each other. StayOnTheLeader had made a graph in one of his meta analysis threads (here's the thread) that illustrates what I mean.

IMO "there is so much more diversity" applies when the blob that clusters by itself, here called"tier 1", is gone because there are many viable squads that can actually compete. Of course we have GhostFenn, but I think it's not as far removed from the rest as other squads were in the past.

Hmm, this is why I don't like the meta-wing "magic" ranking. What we're finding is actually the opposite - there's always been a very elite tier of lists you should be playing or going home, and if anything it's worse now. A lot of the problem is meta-wing being far too generous with what's considered an archetype: Sure, Soontir/Inquisitor/Palp is technically different from Inquisitor/Palp/OL/Wampa is different from Whisper/OL/Palp, but from an archetype perspective, they aren't.

Actually, I should be more clear - I love the way meta-wing presents data. The vast majority of users aren't interested in a billion different competing percentages and such, they just want to see what's performing well and what to expect at a tournament.

We're the weird edge case users :)
