Carolina Krayts is the best X-Wing podcast

@catachanninja

It's not high volume seller, but it's maybe up your alley. Check out Arena Rex.

You can buy in pretty cheap if you stick with one faction. It's about $45 for a starter set. Games are fast and fun. It's a great drinking and skirmish with friends game. Use beer bottles for obstacles :) They usually have an organized event at Adepticon.

Whoops so I miss an hour and two or three other people mention Arena Rex. That's what happens when you start a post and then take a work call.

Armada is too slow for my taste. Ideally whatever game I pickup I can fit in my backpack

Fair enough. I get that feeling, but I still recommend giving it a shot, if you haven't already. Just try and get one of your local players to give you an intro game.

Legion is dropping soon and from what I've heard it plays similar to some of GW's skirmish games (couldn't tell you which ones off the top of my head)

Wait there is a Heavy Gear miniatures game!?!??!?! I thought that was just an awesome Video Game.

I tried to get into it about 5 years ago. Amazing models and great rules set. I just couldn't find a local community, and didn't have money at the time to buy the models just for the models.

One of the coolest things about their rules set is that the crappy forces and elite forces had different win conditions. Super elite badasses would have to accomplish almost all of their mission objectives to get a victory. Draftees and prison brigades, however, could win accomplishing just one of their objectives. It let you simulate a "good vs bad" matchup that didn't require huge chunks of crap to make it a fair fight.

Edit: I did convince friends that had a local community to get into it, and they loved it and said the company had great customer support.

My favorite part of arena rex is terrain.

A cookie sheet full of sand is perfect.

I actually own a bunch of armada, played a decent amount, transport was too much of a paint

I've tried Heavy Gear just once, at a convention somewhere. It had some interesting mechanics as I recall, but it didn't really stand out. I haven't really seen much of it since.

Hey @catachanninja - I could always buy you a beer at GenCon and teach you Aerotech atmosphere rules. Fighter vs fighter combat, where altitude matters and crashing really sucks. Avoids the trigonometry of the space version of the game which scared everybody away from it. Sadly, for years of teaching it at GenCon it was always the same two people doing the fighter combat for the story event. I was one. There are probably only a handful of people globally who play this game...

at minimum at gencon you will find me and we will exchange beers. I try to keep the non x wing days open so i can be impulsive and try things. Also a plus, i can't play at adepticon this year, so i can demo stuff there too.

Wait. What? You're still available for hugs at Adepticon, right?

Man, I’m in the same boat. I’ll definitely be there on the weekend to get a Zack Mathews hug though.

Is there an alternate timeline where Ghost/Fenn gets discovered and then 3 ship small base formationless arcs without harpoons save us?

Pretty sure there is.

It involves alot of Soontir and the Inquistor.

If you're teching super hard against Fenn, maybe A Score To Settle and Concussion Missiles. Concussion gives a free blank to hit, A Score To Settle gives an eyeball to crit, chips a third hit. That's a solid single turn punch. Problem is that you've got to get the lock.

Thats why Paul Heaver gave us Long Range Scanners and Rage. Doesn't have to be Quickdraw.

Just now, catachanninja said:

You have to spend the lock and fenn says no to that

Nope, he says you can't spend to modify.

But then no chips which are key in punching damage through if Fenn does Fenn things to you.

Long Range Scanners can't be equipped to Quickdraw.

Fenn is basically just a meta analogy for Taxes.

What if Quickdraw was a Gunboat?

Also I just named my list:
