3 players?

By AMBusam, in A Game of Thrones: The Board Game (1st Edition)

I've gotten the impression from comments here and on BGG that this game doesn't quite deliver on the 3 player game like it does with more.

If I'm wrong with this assesment, by all means let me know. I'd be interested to here from any defenders of the 3 player. But if it is the case that 3 player is lacking, then I'm wondering if there are any suggestions for house rules, fixes, or variants that have been shown to help.

Thanks in advance.

I have played two 3-player games on the base map, and both were fantastic.

Unlike with more people, you have direct influence on every part of the board. The game is a lot more about strategy and tactics, order placement and unit positioning, and a lot less about politics. I personally like it that way.

In fact, those two 3-player games I consider to be the most fun I've ever had, with the exception of some I've played with A Storm of Swords .

I believe, however, that I am in a minority as far as preference for a 3 player goes.

That's an interesting take. It's good to hear a dissenting opinion. Thanks.

Tried 2 3-player games on the original map - wasn't that good.
