I think Lowhhrick Biggs may have won 5+ store championships this weekend.

Would not surprise me . (Rick-Biggs) One of the other lists that was a contender at Eternal was Lowhhrick + Biggs + _________ (in case he runs it again). Another player didn't run the version he won a SC last weekend with to keep people from developing counters to it.

Next on my list of things to try is Lowhhrick with Rage, EI, and 2x inspired recruit.

Norton MA (31 players) was won by Erich Ridlon flying Heaver's version of the Biggs list.

The store championship at FFG was also won by one. Radiotcx streamed the tournament.

THE SKY HAS FALLEN! RUN!!!!!

I've just learned that no other local store got store championships this season. We had 3+ last year when I was a middling player. I hope x-wing is not on its way out locally. I'm glad I won the one and only, but trading the split rulers for an official FFG yellow one (2nd son's favorite colour) doesn't seem as smart if I can't just win another set.

Anyone else having far fewer store champs this year?

Seems to be quite a few in my area. First year I actually took a hard look at trying to go to more than 1 and made it to 2.

We've had 3 XW SC this month in NS. Plus sc for all the other games this month. There has been a SC every weekend, sometimes two. Next month the province over has 3 SC for XW as well. Only one less than last year and that is due to errors at one of the stores on not following through with checking their orders with the distributor to confirm.

Dan M. took 1st in a 19 player SC at Game Kastle Fremont with:

Jess + Selflessness + R2 + Integrated (27)

Rex + Sabine's MP + Jan Ors (17)

Biggs + R4-D6 + Integrated (26)

Lowhhrick + Draw Their Fire + Wookies (30)

Dan beat Audrey's Dengar (53) + Finn (31) + Inaldra (15) by 2 points (72 to 70).

That Dengar list ( Audrey finished 2nd ) beat me in the semis by 3 points (56-53), when I rolled literally half blanks on attacks, well into the mid-game. I finished 3rd (by MoV). I ran:

Wookie Liberator + Selflessness + Jyn Erso + Zeb (30)

Rex (14)

Lowhhrick + Draw Their Fire + Wookies (3)

Biggs + R4-D6 + Integrated (26)

Corey was 4th , but I have no idea what he ran at all.

Geordan finished 5th , running the same ships as Dan, but a different crew configuration. I beat Geordan in our 3-0/3-0 match, but Geordan beat Dan in their match.

Corey used:

Ryad with Expertise, TIE/D title, Ion Cannon and MK2 Engines.

Quickdraw with the SF title and other stuff I can't remember.

Saber TIE/Int with Autothrusters and a EPT

I came in 6th with my Scyk and Destroy list:

Serissu with Mindlink, Heavy Scyk and Mangler (27)

3 x TPV with Mindlink, Heavy Scyk and Mangler (24 each)

Total: (99)

Minor updates.

The Biggs / Lowhrick / Jess / Rex list made Top 4 twice. Once by Erich at 4-1 who ended up winning, and once by Trevor going 5-0.

17 Rebel lists

7 S&V lists

7 Empire lists

11 of the Rebel lists had Biggs.

7 of the lists were Biggs / Lowhrick / Rex / Jess.

[edit]: List Juggler is up:

http://lists.starwarsclubhouse.com/get_tourney_details?tourney_id=3198

Winner

Erich Ridlon (4-1 / 764)

  • (100)
  • Biggs Darklighter + R4-D6 + Integrated Astromech
  • Lowhhrick + Draw Their Fire + Wookiee Commandos
  • Captain Rex
  • Jess Pava + R2-D6 + Autothrusters + Primed Thrusters + Selflessness

Runner Up

Chris Borzumato (4-1 / 645)

  • (99)
  • Dash Rendar + Lone Wolf + Heavy Laser Cannon + Rey + Outrider + Smuggling Compartment + Burnout SLAM + Counter-Measures
  • Poe Dameron (PS9) + Black One + R2-D2 + Vectored Thrusters + Intensity + Primed Thrusters

Top 4

Trevor Ward (5-0 / 877) lost to Chris

  • (100)
  • Biggs Darklighter + R4-D6 + Integrated Astromech
  • Lowhhrick + Draw Their Fire + Wookiee Commandos
  • Captain Rex
  • Jess Pava + R2-D6 + Autothrusters + Primed Thrusters + Selflessness

Craig Murphy (4-1 / 731) lost to Erich

  • (99)
  • Poe Dameron (PS9) + Black One + R2-D2 + Autothrusters + Intensity + Comm Relay
  • Rey + Adaptability + Millennium Falcon (2) + Kanan Jarrus + Finn

Incidentally Chris and Trevor both had SC wins already.

Also, on a related note, the Biggs / Lowhrick / Jess / Rex list is worth in the ballpark of 115 - 120 points of jousting value because it splits fire so effectively. This is worth its own post later but wanted to tease the summary here. I had to go back to the analytical drawing board to derive that one, because it's the first squad that can focus fire its enemy while nearly completely defocusing incoming attacks. The previous record holder was Parattanni at around 115 points of raw dice with all the synergies working.

Dengar/Nym took the win. Two Empire lists in the top four.

I came in 10th place Swiss with a variant on the Rebel Jankyard.

Biggs Darklighter + R4-D6 + Integrated Astromech
Lowhhrick + Selflessness + Wookiee Commandos
Captain Rex
Thane Kyrell + Draw Their Fire + Alliance Overhaul + R2-D6 + Jyn Erso

Went 3-2, but only started to really groove with the list towards the end of the day. I'm usually a 30-45 minute game guy, win or lose. But this list takes for-freaking-ever, and I was not prepared to go the full 70-75 minutes each game. That really futzed with my game.

Has anyone seen how a mirror match plays out?

Yes (sort of). See my report above a few posts.

My Wookiee Liberators version (no Jess) beat Geordan's version (Jan Ors on Lowhhrick) 100-0. Geordan's version beat Dan's version (Commandos on Lowhhrick, Jan Ors on Rex) in a close game at time. Dan and I didn't play, but Dan won the tournament. The archetype went 1st, 3rd, and 5th. Only the three of us played it.

From our experience, the first loss of a ship is catastrophic in the mirror-match. It's an exaggerated snowball effect. Since my list (Commandos on Lowhhrick, Zeb and Jyn on Liberators) pumps out slightly more offense, with very little loss on defense, it has an advantage in the mirror. Theoretically, because Dan gives us 3 extra points on Rex, he is at a disadvantage in the mirror, (and did in fact lose to Geordan); I'm fairly confident that I'd have beaten Dan had we played in the finals.

Spot on.

It's not even that they screw things up, it's that the mistakes take so god damned long to be fixed.

Look at waves 1-3. And then look at waves 4 and after. Alex Davy joined the design team and the old designers left between waves 3 and 4. The game immediately became less fun when he was allowed access to it.

Now they're just ruining the game on purpose almost.

A friend asked me to try out Runewars. I told him that I'm sure it's a great game, but FFG will ruin it 4 waves in. And that once it is ruined, they'll wait an entire year to fix it. Or their "fix" will be something that's almost as bad like Autothrusters.

They say they worship tournament data in order to balance the game, but that is just an excuse for being *** at designing the game. What you do is trash the game and then you just cross your fingers and hope Worlds or other big events aren't dominated by it. And since those events are always a few months away, it gives you plenty of time to not actually do anything to fix the game and pretend that everything a-okay.

It's like you're on the deck of the Titanic just before it goes completely under telling others that are already in the water, "Now wait a minute, you need data to prove that the ship is sinking, not mere subjective anecdotes ."

This is a game. The purpose of it is to enjoy it. It shouldn't be that hard to make the game more fun when it isn't fun, it's not rocket science. Sometimes, the evidence of your own eyes is enough. SoWhen something is wrong with the game, admit it, and fix it.

I have a feeling that the main reason the game isn't readily fixed is because Alex Davy is one of those smarmy, "Nothing is ever wrong with the game, stop complaining and get good" guys.

We'll have a fix for Jumpmasters, Mindlink, Biggs, Lowhhrick, bombs, etc. eventually. But FFG will wait until the ship is already sinking to fix the problem instead of immediately taking action once a problem has arisen.

I can't play IA anymore either without getting stomped by some overpowered Bantha or Rancor or 5 cost unique figure that can fire twice a round and does automatic splash damage each time he attacks. 2 elite probe droids, or a bantha that can move 15 god damned spaces and do auto damage to multiple units when it finally stops moving? Royal Guard Champion, or a Bantha, Beast Tamer, and Vinto? Regular Nexu, or Greedo?

Could you possibly be anymore ignorant.

Let's try to not light the flames here. This is an important thread with valued information. Salty's comments are fine as one offs, but when he is poked, the thread can derail pretty quickly.

Just leave it be or reply to his many similar comments in a thread where the discussion is already in full swing.

20ish person tourney at Huzzah games had Duncan Howard with Palp QD and OL beating Ron Brannen's Fair Ship rebels in the final there. According to the commentators Ron had only run the list 3 or so times before the tournament. Steele TV streamed.

Krayts did a stream of a store championship in Durham. Here are the results.

Remember the title of the last FAQ : They bring balance in the force ! :P

heh, we also had SCUM win an NYC SC just yesterday (fenn scouts)

buuuuuuuuuuut, our resident jank master took 2nd with Whisper, Vess (Tie/D ion and ruthlessness of all things) and Darkcurse

I wasn't there, sadly, but I doubt I would've made it far with my double SCURRG jank anyway :P

We did a team tournament locally and my buddy on my team wanted a win badly to get out of slump. So we brought the most overpowered ships we could think of in one list, Ventress, Dengar, Fenn, N'dru with Cruise Missiles and went undefeated and won, 2nd best list was 6 TLT's. Such a great time to play...

Ruthlessness Vessery is somewhat tempting, imo.

I (Mikhail) won the Legendary Games store championship in Lexington, KY yesterday running Nym/Leebo. 19 players.

2nd- Camden with Nym/Miranda

Top 4- Donald with Kylo RAC/Quickdraw

Top 4- JD with Plot Armor (Intensity Poe/Dash)

A Tiny SC in the UK (8 players, 4 rounds because we wanted to play games)

1st Nym and Miranda 3/1 (Lost to 4th, should of been a 100 Nil loss, but the idiot flying Rey tried to Talon roll her)

Miranda, TLT, Conner, Clusters, Seimics, Extra and Sabine

Nym, TLT, Bomblets some other stuff that I can't remember.

2nd Low (Pred, Int Agent, Tact), Jess (Primed, M9G8, AT), Wulf 3/1 (DtF, Rey, Tact)

3rd, 3x Scurrg, Deadeye, Sync, Long range (2x Outlaw, 1x Dengar) 3/1

4th, Poetency and Expertise Rey 3/1

Edit to Add

6 Rebel's 2 Scum 18 Ships, 14 with Turrets

Another tiny UK SC (11 players, 4 rounds plus a one round cut to top 1/2 and 3/4) in Cambridge.

Winner was Soontir (mk ii instead of SD), QD with AStS and no tech, and a VI x7 Maarek. Excellent flying - he both ably dealt with bombs (see below) and pulled off a spectacular block with Soontir in my match with him.

2nd - Nymgar (TLT on Nym, Expertise Dengar without munitions)

3rd - Nymiranda (Ions / Clusters on Miranda, Bomblet and TLT on Nym, Cruise Missiles on both)

4th - DenTel worlds list

5th - yours truly with Intensity Cruise Vader, Adaptability Cruise PT QD and OL - lost to the 1st and 4th players (crushingly to the 1st, narrowly to 4th) and win vs the 3rd thanks to a brilliant crit from Vader on Miranda and CMs.

What was your build? I put together a Leebo/Nym build (called Leebooooo Jenkins!) more as a lark, but it's done pretty good. It's ridiculously aggressive (thus the name) and seems to make people do things before they want to.
