But it's fun to theorize. That's why I think R2-D2 is the optimal solution. It helps cover the list's weakness, makes you tankier versus the mirror match, and increases the "Holy crap this match is no fun I quit, you win" factor.

Please switch to R2-D2. R4-D6 is the reason it beats alpha strikes. Without it you throw 15 hits, 5 get pulled with selflessness, the other 10 go into biggs. With R4-D6 it goes from 15 dice to 6 (assuming all hits, add a crit to every roll and its down to 9). and you pull 2 off with selflessness. FSR wins out with everyone limping at a couple of hull, getting a few extra damage in with the alpha would be clutch.

Hey this was me! List in detail:
Contracted scout #1: AML, Proton, EM, Boba, R4 agro, Chimps
Contracted scout #2: AML, Plasma, EM, Intel, R4 agro, Chimps
Contracted scout #3: AML Ion projector, Intel, Rigged Cargo, OCR4

I won a SC down in Houston with it a couple weeks ago as well.

First two times flying against 2.0. From Houston so I've been losing to the original braylen FSR since late march.

First match he had initiative so I slowly split up and tried coming in at different angles, lost 100-0 at time with a 1 health low ,1 health biggs, shieldless Jess. It was a close game though and a couple of dice rolls the other way would at list given me points on the board.

Second match I took initiative and so i forced a joust. I started with the trip with pre-nerf defenders, so I eschew shooting torps unless I have a ship blocked. I found myself in the opposite position of @MajorJuggler . By blocking I was forcing him to either split fire or ignore R1 shots on the blocker. He was running tactician rey instead of op spec and flew in a 2x2 block though, so I had could bump two of his ships and have them bump in back as well. The list's efficiency drops substantially when you lose focuses and the reinforce token. I kept my guys jammed up with one focusing for the group so I had better action efficiency then him. He eventually tried to split lowrick but was still blocked which let me dump damage into him until he was dead. Then it's a game of cycling blockers to keep my ships healthy as possible while damaging his.

I definitely flew better in this game, but I also have to say our dice traded places and mine were notably hotter in the second match. The only big mistakes I saw my opponent make were to split lowrick off after i had already shot a torp at him, letting me finish him with primaries, and he popped the droid off biggs for the first hit that came in, which let me use a torp to finish off biggs instead of gambling on getting hits in with primaries.

I'm wondering if action denial is the way to beat this list, selflessness is only once in a game, if you can mod dice and they can't you may be able to whittle faster than they can.

Hey it was great meeting and playing you in the final! The guys I traveled with talked about what an excellent opponent you were. If you're ever in the Twin Cities, let us know and we can get some games in!

@AlexW , my parents live up there so I'm usually around for christmas. Had a blast at last worlds too so I'll try to make it there again next year. I'll hit y'all up for sure next time I'm around.

Funny thing is when i built this list I was just trying to be annoying . People at Pastimes knows I fly as little upgrades or none at all and just like running around with my Kihraxz. The list the whole time for me was all about how to keep Biggs alive as long as possible and with not really using upgrades in the past i just looked at ships that could do it. Hence why Roark has always been in the list and Pava never even a thought. It just happened to function and perform very well. Keeping 4 ships with such different dials together is very very hard and taxing. Also I like engaging in combat. Drives me nuts to just circle the board and do nothing and having people come after me. Now yes I wont just line straight up against double Ghost, but I will turn into them in the middle of the board. I tihnk in the 18 games i played I landed on a rock 2 times (both on the same rock in the same game on the same turn) otherwise small base ships can easily get thru a pathway to come and hit you. With the end of Store champs and not playing a couple weeks at Gencon my version of Fair Ship which honestly can and has wrecked the pava list both times ive played it. my overall break down has been 4 store champs going

4-0 winning 14 player event

0-2 in 8 player event (which was probably more my horrible flying and a little on the dice variance as i did not put myself in a good spot a couple times each game)

3-1 swiss 2 seed by wide margin on MoV then losing in championship round 4-2 overall of 20 player event

4-1 swiss losing in 1st rd of top 4 cut to eventual champion 4-2 overall in 34 player event

1st 3 events had following list

Rex

Biggs w/R2-D2 and IA

Lowhhrick w/Lightning reflexes and Wookie Commandos

Roark w/TLT and Vectored thrusters (4th event had Rey instead of VT)

Now anyone who has watched the Gold Squadron streams of the Pastimes or Tyton games store championships has seen this list and seen how effective it can be. The first question that seems to pop up is why roark and not pava. Here are the reasons. 1 it allows my Rex to shoot first regardless if its a PS9 Dengar or PS5 Biggs or really what ever threat needs to be suppressed 1st. 2 When facing high PS builds I can also get Biggs to 12 to shoot before he going to die and doesn't get to shoot. 3 TLT is still a very real thing and once Biggs is dead you can do so much chip damage on a ship. 4. It gets around a little bit of the pava builds with selflessness and DTF and doesn't worry about biggs having R4-D6. Both times I have played anything with the FSR build out I have easily won. once even 100-0 . 2nd thing I hear is why Reflexes and not selflessness or DTF on Low. Let me tell you reflexes has been a godsend in basically ever game. Nothing like doing a maneuver turning around and being at range 1 of ship instead of it shooting me in the butt. You do have to be selective of when you do it cause its 1 time only thing. You cant burn it early unless you really got nothing to lose. Probably most underrated card in the whole list. All star in my opinion. Lastly why R2-d2. Simple if the alpha strike does not kill Biggs right off the bat GL getting thru the regen shield(s). Now not perfect of course but anytime you have to do 2-3 or more extra damage means its more time you shooting at him and not my other 3 guys.

What this list still struggles against is what FSR list struggles with or at least should struggle with. Bombs. Especially Miranda. She can dance around and just TLT you if you don't attack her and if you get too close she just drops bombs. Scum Nym is also highly effective against this since he can just run into you drop a bomb use autoblaster turret and biggs can die very quickly along with the support ships of rex and roark.

My 2 big losses of course have been to trip jumps. I went 1-2 in store champs against it and honestly the games were all close. Just couldnt get my guys to stay alive 1 extra turn usually while his did. trip jumps is beatable with this list and can be attacked correctly to do it. Good players are just going to TL and shoot their torpedoes at the ship with Selflessness on it in the more common build, mine they should aim at biggs. But since they only shooting 2 torps the 1st go around they better hit biggs perfectly and hoping he blanks out across both attacks otherwise they are shooting a 3rd torp at him and giving him another chance to not take it all. It is important to kill one of the extra muntions scouts before it gets off the 2nd torp it can shoot. won the game i did that, lost the 2 I didnt. But the games were still winnable even with that happening.

Anyway if anyone will be playing at Gencon and wants to give this a try and has questions on it definitely hit me up. I know a lot of people would not want to see this list do well at Gencon and honestly I dont want the Pava version to do very well either. But if anyone runs this one I hope they do great with it. Just make sure you practice with it.

Why would people shoot munitions at Biggs in that list? Roark could easily go down in 2 decent ordnance shots.

@AlexW , what cannon did you sport on Vessery?

I ran the X7, which allowed me to afford PA and Ion Pulse on Quickdraw. The alternative is to make Vess into a TieD Ion but he goes down very fast that way.

Craving for a Game in Surrey, BC, Canada

43 Players with Cut to Top 4

Top 2 - Patryk (2nd in Swiss went 5-0) with Fenn (Attanni, AT, Title) / Asajj (Attanni, Latts) / Scout (Attanni, Intel, Cargo)

Top 2 - Calen (1st in Swiss went 5-0) with a Chopper (FCS, ICT, Hera, Ezra, Title, Tact Jammer) / Biggs (R4D6, IA) / Sabine (Crack, ABT, IA, Title)

Top 4 - Ray (3rd in Swiss went 4-1 but dropped from cut) with Miranda (TLT, Bomblet, Sabine) / Biggs (R2-D2, Integrated) / Lowhhrick (Self, Rey)

Top 4 - Thomas (4th in Swiss went 4-1 lost to Patryk in top 4) with Tycho (Rage, PTL, Cruise, EI, Title) / Nym (VI, ABT, AC, Bomblet, Title, Genius) / Kaszyyyk Defender (Wookie Commandos)

Top 4 - David (5th in Swiss went 4-1 and lost to Calen in top 4) with Biggs (R4D6, IA) / Lowhhrick (DTF, Wookies) / Jess (M9G8, AT) / Rex

Final wasn't played. It was getting really late and neither of us wanted to play another game. So Calen let me decide if I wanted to final salvo him AFTER he rolled his dice and I knew the results. He got 2 hits, I rolled 5. So I got the plaque and he got the larger store credit and we both got to go home an hour early.

Wicked Goblin in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. Only 9 players, but with 4 rounds then a cut to top 4, no-one went through the day undefeated.

1st place with Dengar/Kath was Robin (Normal expertise/K4/Unhinged/torps Dengar, Kath with Tail gunner, Fearlessness, Andrasta title and Bomblet Generator)

I don't have any of the other lists, but Iain Hamp just won the 46-player Imperial Outpost Store Championship (Phoenix area) with:

  • 3x Scimitar Squadron, Unguided Rockets, LWF, Seismic Charge
  • 1x Scimitar Squadron, Unguided Rockets, LWF
  • 1x Wampa

he called it TIE Nommers and kept saying "I'm flying 4 Inquisitors!"

I would love to hear some insights on flying them, they haven't quite clicked with me. First I just attributed it to the cards being bad like the rest of the internet, but this makes me think there is something I missed. Maybe I should have explored offsetting the need for k-turns more.

We finished our Store Championship at ABU Games her in Boise, ID. Had 14 players attend with 7 Rebel lists, 5 Scum and 2 Imperials.

The winner flew:

Quickdraw - Adaptability, FCS, LWF, PA
Darth Vader - Adaptability, TIE/X1, ATC
Col. Vessery - Juke, Tie/X7

Second place flew:

Miranda Doni - TLT, EM, Seismic Torpedo, Sabine Wren, Bomblet Generator, Proton Bombs
Captain Nym - Expertise, TLT, EM, Cluster Mines, Cluster Mines, Havoc title, Minefield Mapper, R4-E1

Overall everyone had a good time, the second placed player was the only one with TLTs and the only auzituck in play was a Kashyyyk Defender.

I approve of that winner!

Ooft, that winning list is a beaut

So how many days until SC season for next year? Still haven't had a good SC experience since 2014, oof.

He beat FSR at least twice on his way to the title as well.

I haven't been in the area for long, but Iain seems to be the best player I have ever encountered in person, so it is very likely he wins because he is crazy good and could make most anything work. But, he could also just be way above me in ship/upgrade analysis and spot why unguided rockets work when I have continued to see them as far too restrictive to work well.

There was another list in top 4 which was also composed of a majority of unguided rocket bombers by another very high level player (Hart I believe is his name). I think their only loses may have been to each other, or at least they both beat each other once.

Yep, that was me. The list was:

3x Scimitar Squadron, Unguided Rockets, LWF
Scienar Specialist, TLT, LWF
Wampa

Iain was responsible for my only two losses on the day, Swiss round 4 and again in the top 4. It turns out he brought the right tech for the near mirror. :) He won the top 4 game with a single bomber with one health on it. In any case, I was happy to see him take the Nommers all the way.

I brought the list thinking it was going to be good but it's got legs that surprised me.

Also, Wampa is life.

So my brother got his revenge on me from last Stores which I won against him. Final was pretty lopsided as I rolled maybe 2 evades whole game and lost 2 Tie Fighters per turn so there wasn't much to do. Lost same amount of Ties than in other 5 games total. Farewell to Tie swarms after G4H hits the shelves.

Happy for my brother though, for his first tournament victory as it has fallen short usually against me :P. I got my win and he got his. Now towards Nationals/Regionals next.

Yes, the swedish meta is wonderfully weird sometimes. Although it could just be that it's store championship season and people are doing a bit of experimenting.

Had the Realms of Magic and Miniatures Store champ yesterday (Townsville, Queensland, Australia), haven't got the full lists but attempting to get them for List Juggler.

18 players, 4 rounds then cut to top 4.

Top 4 was

4-0 Jireh with 3 Wookies (Both named with Expertise and a generic with Commandos and toys spread around)

3-1 Jordan with Assajj/Fenn/N'Dru (no Mind link, PTL mainly), reigning store champ iirc.

3-1 Dan with Norra/Braylenstressmule/2 Bandits with Adv Homing

3-1 Rory with Dengar/Assajj

3 Wookies lost to Dengar/Assajj (he had a flight to catch anyway)

Dan with ArcArczz lost to Jordan with PTL scum

Rory with Dengar/Assajj beat Jordan PTL Scum

We had 3 others at 3/1, unsure of 5th (never saw his games), myself at 6th with VI ICT Nym and LW/CM HLC Dash (bombed my MOV in the first round loss thanks to the omelette generator) and David in 7th with Soontir/Carnor/Tomax Bren.

Really good turnout, 3 down from Cairns and a few extra faces from out of the woodwork locally. Now if only they'd give us a Far North QLD regionals...
