It's kind of nuts seeing non LWF SF's doing so well. I'm going to have to try it.

Yeah because an extra blank result matters :P

Oh wait thats just me :(

I'm actually not surprised. I saw alpha strike Double SF list without LWF (2 PS9 SF's with TS, Concussion missiles, GC and Pure Sabacc) on a table during a second day of Worlds, so they can perform.

I got to top 8 at regionals last year with pre-LWF Quickdraw. LWF is nice, but it's really not critical to what the SFs do.

I found that most of the time I'm at range 3 or there is a rock, so I don't get the bonus anyways. But when I do, I roll blanks

I, on the other hand, find LWF essential. It's just so useful in a high red dice meta. Also, it makes such a huge difference against TLT and HLC.

Yeah, it is a huge boost vs TLT. I do prefer having LWF, but I just find it an acceptable loss if I really need the points for something else.

Given my user name, guess it isnt much of a surprise that I value lwf only over an excessive initiative bid :P

The first 2 points on any SF im sure are just nailed onto a copy of FCS

Had a good run the other evening with an Expertise + FCS + Title + Shield Upgrade Quickdraw; VI + FCS + Title + LWF + Pattern Analyser Backdraft, and your standard 26pt Omega Leader.

One game against a kitted out Dengar and Fen Rau: Quickdraw's ability allowed me to strip all of Dengar's shields and some hull (i.e. he shot at Dengar; Dengar's ability lets him shoot back; then Quickdraw's ability lets him shoot back). Sure I lost QD in the process after having Dengar shoot him twice (this all happened at R1). But with no shields and half hull; BD and OL were able to take him out before turning their attention to Fen. It ended up being Fen vs OL 1-on-1... And we all know how 1-on-1 against OL turns out...

I think this is probably in part because of the way we've flown high agility Aces in the past. I know the first time I used it I was often not getting an extra dice for exactly the same reasons.

LWF allows the SF (in particular because the value is severely diminished on other candidates) to be more of a jouster. Unlike Fenn, Quickdraw is happy at range 2, makes no difference to her if she is range 2 or 3 except that her offence is decreased at longer range.

I won a 28 person SC at Gigabytes Cafe in the Atlanta area with-

Thane Kyrell — ARC-17026 Jyn Erso2Alliance Overhaul0Ship Total: 28

Captain Rex — TIE Fighter14Jan Ors2Sabine's Masterpiece1Ship Total: 17

Jess Pava — T-70 X-Wing25R3-A22Integrated Astromech0Ship Total: 27

Biggs Darklighter — X-Wing25R5-P93Integrated Astromech0Ship Total: 28

I wasn't sure if this Rube Goldberg machine of a list could work, but Thane throwing around green tokens like candy was great. I lost Biggs once in 7 games. Most of these type lists take Braylen, but I found one stress was enough from Pava. Thane's action economy was MVP.

Other top 4 lists were:

Dengar/Asajj

QD, OL, palp Upsilon shuttle

QD, Backdraft, Sabacc

Just checking, but you weren't using Jyn every time they shot Biggs, right?

Nope, lol. Jyn action was used once per turn.

However, remembering all the triggers for the list is the hardest thing about playing it.

Sweet. "Throwing green tokens like candy" had me worried for just a second. Carry on. :)

LWF is great against TLT. And for two points, if it triggers twice and saves damage it's usually worth the investment. If it save one damage it's better than hull upgrade

LWF is useful against almost all the secondary weapons (not the Autoblaster variety). TLT isn't really an exception to this, it's just one of the most common.

I wouldn't call it great against TLT though, Autothrusters is great against TLT. LWF helps and it certainly gives Imperial 2 agility ships something the other factions don't have.

A friend of mine just won a SC in Ohio (Fun Factory) with Wedge/Horton/Cracken. No, I am not making this up. In his top 4 matchups, he faced Dengar/Fenn/Inaldra and Dengar/Tel. I'm pretty sure he tabled DenTel.

We brainstormed this list together and we're surprised it did so well. I think we're calling it "The Revenge of Wave 3" or something like that:

Wedge Antilles: Adaptability, Proton Torpedoes, R2-D2, Guidance Chips

Horton Salm: Veteran Instincts, R2-D6, Twin Laser Turret, Plasma Torpedoes, Extra Munitions, Guidance Chips

Airen Cracken: Veteran Instincts, Homing Missiles, Guidance Chips

So... Shoot first with a massive ordnance Alpha strike at PS 10?

I have a friend who's been trying something similar, but with Ten in place of Wedge. He'll be thrilled to see his theory vindicated.

Tell your friend well played. :)

I like Numb as the replacement for Wedge. Let Cracken and Horton fire first; and hopefully you're landing an unstoppable crit against bare hull (I'm assuming he's running him with VI, Mangler and FCS).

Wedge is a beast, especially with ordnance. People forget just how amazing he used to be. Taking a Jumpmaster down to 1 agility and firing 4 dice at them at range just feels so good.

Airen's been becoming more popular recently as an alpha-strike enabler. I've been pairing him with Miranda for that delicious 5 dice homing missile:

25 Airen w/ VI, HomingM, Chips.
45 Miranda w/ TLT, HomingM, EM, C3P0, Chips.
30 (2x) Prototypes w/ Refit.

I managed to kill a fully kitted out Dengar the other night with Airen and Miranda's missiles in one volley. It was glorious.

I think 25pt Airen paired with another high PS ordnance carrier (+ filler) is a really solid Rebel archetype at the moment. Plus I enjoy the justice of melting scouts with ordnance spam.

I think the torps are switched, makes more sense to have Wedge get the action from Cracken for full focus and then have Horton shoot with both mini-mods.

He's gone heavy on the alpha strike at the moment: VI + Advanced Sensors + Proton Torps + EM. I'd have gone Mangler + FCS, as well, but he's been getting results with the torps so far.
