I’ll admit that I don’t love the prequels, and though I don’t hate the movies and comics, I have difficulty when they are treated as authoritative.
That being said, I really don’t think the N1 belongs in the Republic faction. After just seeing the EI, I would have been fine with it, but everything I have read about the N1, is that it is a ship is exclusive to Naboo. I’m sure they show up in some comic or novel saying they were used in the Clone Wars, but that is crazy. Naboo, never had that many of them, and it just doesn’t make sense for them to give them to the Republic. I am sure Naboo had several during the Clone Wars, but wouldn’t Naboo keep them home during time of war.
There is a pecking order for content being treated as canon, and the movies are at the top of it. Like it or not, the Phantom Menace is a Star Wars Movie, and the ships from that trilogy are the key source for the Republic and Separatist factions.
The Naboo N1 fighter is THE iconic ship from that movie, ir fights on the side of the republic against the droids. I am so glad it is in the game, and I can't wait to put 4-6 of them on the table together.

I'm not a huge prequel guy, but I'm pretty sure that Naboo is part of the Republic. I hear the Supreme Chancellor is from that planet.
Also, I'm not a huge prequel guy, but I like the N-1 and will be happy to push a few of them around a table whilst making pew pew noises.

I think what the N-1 represents is less of Naboo giving the fighters to the broader Republic to participate in battles over Mygeeto or such, but Naboo defending itself against the Separatist droid fleet, perhaps with the assistance of Jedi and Clones from the Grand Army of the Republic.

Hahaha!
On the serious side of things, the N-1 just looks
awesome
and I'm excited to play it for that reason alone. Also, as a kid I play ,"SW Starfighter," and this gets me right in the feels.

This, for me, is one of the best things about the prequels. The ship designs generally look very cool. And for X-wing miniatures, looking cool is half the battle.

Well Naboo is aligned with the Republic so its not that far fetched I think for their ships to fight for the faction. Not every crew, pilot or ship makes sense if you don't think outside the box or imagine scenarios.
Snoke on a teeny Upsilon instead of a capital ship that is crazy big? Saw Gerrera flying alongside Luke? Biggs flying with E-Wings from a possible future? Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors in the same squad as Cassian and Jyn? Maul working alongside Dooku, Grevious, and Assajj?
Imagine some scenarios: some Separatist, or an unknown force, are nearing Naboo's system so they launch their own ships to bolster any possible Republic ships in the area. Padme or some dignitary are in a escort ship away from the battle but they have to fend of the attacking party. Perhaps a Republic fleet lost a majority of its fighter squadrons *coughSnipscough* and has to ask Naboo to lend some of its starfighters for a time.
I’m so excited for the n1, Anakin is such a hilarious fusion of mechanics and theme! Can not wait to pickup a pair of these guys!
My biggest question about them has to do with the ship ability: I think full throttle is/was so powerful both in 2.0 and back when we called it x/7 because of the white kturn on the Defenders. I’m wondering if it will get the same level of utility on a ship that a) has a better low speed dial than a defender, b) can’t pull of 180 degree turn, actions galore shenanigans, and c) only has 2 green dice to work with.
I think it will be good, but I am hoping the space-frame doesn’t pay too steep of a premium for it, e.i. the massive tax the TIE/D pays.

I think this is really the crux of it. X-Wing enables both Awesome Team-Up Fun Time as well as more thematic play—if you want it. But for the most part, the factions represent a logical chunk of more-or-less allied forces set during a given (fairly broad) time period; it’s up to players to decide how much they want to be sticklers for reflecting sequences of events that would prevent or enable certain team-ups within their lists.
Maul/Dooku is a great example—Dooku was still Light-Side until Maul’s defeat, and Maul didn’t resurface until after Dooku’s death. They wouldn’t have fought alongside each other, but both did fight for what was essentially the same side during the late Republic era, just at slightly different times.
So let us have our Republic N-1s! 😁

Qui-Gon crew card should have had Dooku's card ability

That's as silly as you are for suggestion canon doesn't matter.
Consider the following. Padme is Anakin's wife. Anakin is a Hero of The Republic. An ace Starfighter Pilot. Sometimes Padme becomes a very active activist. Sometimes, she has an escort. It stands to reason that at these times, the republic- or her home's fighters, would escort her vessel. Or, they could act as decoys. or, if fighting above Naboo, would be called into service.
Now, yes, we do have canon that states for some reason some of those fighters had been grounded since The Trade Federation attack... but, given
that we literally see N1s in Episode II, ten years after,
I feel like whoever wrote that bit may have just forgotten that fun little detail.
So if you really need to, imagine that every fight that N1s are involved in, is in direct relation to Naboo.
Meh, the n-1 is
a.) Fast + defensive with full throttle
b.) Packs Torps (unavailable till Ys)
c.) Neither completely force sensative nor (thus far) capable of a 3 die primary
Basically, it fills a particular niche in the republic faction and therefore offers a whole new dimension of gameplay options
Ergo, it belongs in the republic regardless of minor lore scruples
(Esp because gunray is a petty enough guy to try to get revenge on the planet, so naboos fighting in the clone wars isn't out of the question)

Naboo is a planet part of the Republic, didn't you know?
"Affiliation: Galactic Republic"
(I though that would be crystal clear, since they belong to the Senate)
Naboo is a small planet and I’m pretty sure if they were a meaningful arms exporter to the republic then the Trade Federation blockade should really have been more of an issue in the senate....
That said, it’s a nice ship. Rule of Cool says the protagonists should have access...
Those look great! Good job!
Cool!
