By voidshadoh1, in X-Wing Squad Lists

hey im new to x-wing and me and my wife have been fooling around on the squad builer websites out there i was playing around with a 100 point team and i think im on the right track let me know?

- upsilon-class shuttle (major stridan) [fleet officer] [weapons enginer] [comm relay] [targeting synchronizer] 44pts

-tie fighter f/o (omega ace) [expose] [comm relay] 27pts

-tie striker (duchess) [lone wolf] [engine upgrade] [adaptive ailerons] 29pts

is it okay? does it need improving im bound to have some add on's i most likley dont need haha thanks guys :)

Four upgrades you don't need in this build are:

Targeting Synchronizer, because your wing-men aren't carrying missiles or a torpedo, so there is no point in treating the Upsilon's Target Lock as just another attack. If your wing-man has a missile, then they could spend Maj. Stridan's lock without having acquired it on their own. Unless I'm misunderstanding, Targeting Synchronizer doesn't allow a friendly to re-roll a regular attack the way a common Target Lock does.
"When a friendly ship at Range 1-2 is attacking a ship you have locked, the friendly ship treats the "Attack (target lock): header as "Attack:." If a game effect instructs that ship to spend a target lock, it may spend your target lock instead."

Comm Relay on the Upsilon. This ship doesn't have an evade action, so you can't hold onto a token you can't get. instead, save one point and get Sensor Cluster: "When defending, you may spend a focus token to change 1 of your blank results to an [evade] result."

Expose: "Action: Until the end of the round, increase your primary weapon value by 1 and decrease your agility value by 1." It sounds great on paper, but in practice it usually isn't worth the cost of losing an action and opening yourself to one less green. Here, to do basically the same, I'd try fitting in Zeta Leader (20) "When attacking, if you are not stressed, you may receive 1 stress token to roll 1 additional die." and Outmanuever (3) "When attacking a ship inside your firing arc, if you are not inside that ship's firing arc, reduce its agility value by 1 (to a minimum of 0)." Stress is not a killer; you can work around it, especially in a TIE/fo, maybe get Inspiring Recruit on the Upsilon.

Engine Upgrade on the Striker. You are already "boosting" before your movement, so this is kind of redundant. In it's place use the Lightweight Frame that came with the ship and save two points.

Here is how I would tweak your list:

100 Points:

Starkiller Base Pilot — Upsilon-class Shuttle 30
Advanced Sensors 3
Systems Officer 2
Weapons Engineer 3
Pattern Analyzer 2
Sensor Cluster 2
Kylo Ren's Shuttle 2
Ship Total: 44
"Duchess" — TIE Striker 23
Lone Wolf 2
Lightweight Frame 2
Adaptive Ailerons 0
Ship Total: 27
"Zeta Leader" — TIE/fo Fighter 20
Outmaneuver 3
Comm Relay 3
Stealth Device 3
Ship Total: 29

Target Synch works with normal attacks via the newest FAQ, and any game effect that requires a target lock to be spent. It will become one of the most powerful cards in the game, mark my words.

OP, I would just drop Omega Ace and do Omega Leader + Juke + Comms for 26pts.

Fleet Officer is an action, so without Fire Control Systems to get you a target lock, you are not using one of your costly upgrades.

Dutchess really wants to move last. Strikers are very fragile, and her ability is her savior moving last, being able to end up in a million different positions. Put VI on her.

Major Stridan (32)
Fire-Control System (2)
Rebel Captive (3)
Operations Specialist (3)
Targeting Synchronizer (3)
Kylo Ren's Shuttle (2)

"Omega Leader" (21)
Juke (2)
Comm Relay (3)
Stealth Device (3)

"Duchess" (23)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Adaptive Ailerons (0)

Total: 100

Leave Stridan's actions open for coordinate. He can have your aces barrel-roll, focus, target lock, etc. before they move. Whatever they need. Or he can just grab his own TL. Rebel captive makes him an annoying target, and Kylo title prevents Kturns behind him. You still have Target Synch that either ace can use if needed. The best part is Operations Specialist, that will toss focus tokens around your squad when you miss.

I really like the track of the OP list. Omega Ace w/ Expose + Target Synchro + fleet officer means 3-4 auto crits. Top tier competitive? No, not really since you're sacrficing durability of your heavy hitters. Fun? If you like power combos, then heck yeah!

Trying to line up all the pieces to get that rediculus all in attack is its own kind of fun in casual play. I've certainly tried Swarm Leader on Omega Ace myself and it is quite satisfying to roll 5 dice and just say, "I'm making these all crits now"

Even with that said, I would still trade LW on Duchess for VI. Especially if you want to keep Engine Upgrade on there. Repositioning is most valuable at the highest PS and getting LW active in that magic slice in Range3 of the shuttle might be harder that it sounds even with all the repositioning. No good reason not to try it anyways to practice those high precision maneuvers :)

Thanks guys sorry for the late reply I can't wait to include these ideas!!
