Newbie help

By BaelishtheGrey, in Player community

Please remove if in the wrong place. I realise I am a little late to the party, however I am looking to invest and start playing. My only concern is that as it's been around so long, that I am entering into a game that will replaced with a second edition fairly soon (I dived into 40000k conquest and then GW pulled the license!). Does anyone know anything about this? I haven't found anything official.

secondly, does anyone have any advice on an initial buy in (core set aside)?

any help appreciated

thanks

It is not likely that LOTR is going to move to a second edition since the game remains immensely popular and is not competitive so prospective players can purchase at their discretion.

I don't know how updated this is, but try this New Player Buying Guide .

Did you end up buying the core? Keep in mind that some of the older expansions seem to be challenging to get these days but I would check out what is available in your area and then start either with Shadows of Mirkwood, Khazad Dum and the associated cycle or Sands of Harad (the latest deluxe expansion) and the the ongoing cycle.
