Lannister opening strategies and mid-game goals

By Saramund, in A Game of Thrones: The Board Game (1st Edition)

Recommended openings :

Defense+2 in Golden Sound (try to prevent Greyjoy from killing your fleet. Also, if you dont do this, Greyjoy can defeat your fleet by moving in just 1 ship, and then you can lose Lannisport turn 1
Lannisport March+1 (all into Riverrun)
Stoney Sept: Support+1 (this holds riverrun against any attack by Greyjoy, IF you are using the fixes starting position (Greyjoy in position 5 on raven track, Tyrell 4th)

Not that if Greyjoy places a support order in the Ironman's Bay, you MUST use the raven to change your ship's defense+2 order to raid, to kill the support. This allows you to still hold Riverrun.

Future goals : Try to save your fleet, try to hold Lannisport, Riverrun. Take Hammerhall, gather support from Stoney sept + Hammerhall. Try to make a deal with Baratheon and Tyrell to not attack each other. It in their interests to make this deal.
try to convince Stark to attack or at least pressure greyjoy. This takes pressure off you.

Notes for 3-4 player : your position is much stronger, with no Greyjoy. Take Riverrun and hammerhall on turn 1, and attack the nuetral fleet in Ironman's bay (with march+1). Then take Pyke, Seaguard, and later Flint's finger. Hold this until muster, then try to expand for the last couple cities.
