I got off to a rousing start against Paul Heaver running 2 AF IIs, Yavaris, and a flotilla with Cracken, 2 VCXs, 3 X-wings, Biggs, Green Squadron, and a Y-wing at 391. He chose to go second and I selected Station Assault. He started by placing both stations in the corner of his side:

My Endeavor is on the far right, Admo on the left.

Speed 3 and Engine Techs got Endeavor in shooting range and put 3 damage on the station before landing on it point blank. Paul through Yavaris forward at Rd 3 and I made my first mistake and wavered, heading away from the station with Admonition and landing in a double arc from his unactivated AFII. I got tunnel vision and ignored it since I knew it would move beyond where I ended. Dumb mistake. Surprisingly it didn't take much damage, only 2, I think. He had Cracken on his flotilla getting perilously close to Endeavor.

Rd 3:

Rd 3 started with me destroying the station and not quite being able to kill Cracken. My S.S. EHB got bombed to death, along with Admonition, I believe.

Round 4:

20170218_113455.jpg

Rd 4 I obliterated Cracken with a ridiculous amount of overkill. I barely avoided flying off the table and the corner of Endeavor is the closest thing to on the edge. Notice how glossy that side is? It was a super slick play surface and really sucked. Round 5 nothing really happened other than me proving I could avoid flying off the edge:

I ended up losing 7-4, but I'm pretty sure if I had kept Admo headed straight at the other station that I could have eked out a small win.

Match 2, vs. Christopher Goodman

I didn't do as good of a job as I would have liked toon this game, but I ended up winning 8-3 (I haven't played against Rieken very much at all) against a Pelta with Entrapment Formation!, TRC90, Yavaris with FC, FCT, Toryn Farr on Bright Hope, and Rieekan, BCC, and Boosted Comms on the last flotilla, as well as Superfriends Biggs, Luke, Wedge, Norra, Gold, HWK-290, and 2 B-wings. I chose to go first and picked Planetary Ion Cannon, which he distributed roughly equally in thirds across the board. I deliberately landed on the first one to the left with Endeavor, then used my VCX to move the middle one all the way to the edge on my side.

His flotillas are the top two, Rieken to the left. I killed Yavaris but couldn't move due to colliding since it didn't get removed. My E-wings rolled stellar this game and I ended up collecting all except Nora and one B-wing this game.

His Pelta died this round from a double arc by Admo, and Endeavor was reduced to flakking both shots. I think I'm down to a sole E-wing at this point. His TRC90 kept dishing out lots of damage but no accuracies against my flotilla, and Bright Hope crashed into Endeavor to stay put. He finally nailed S.S. EHB with the double arc above, and I swung around with Endeavor and killed Rieken. I had to chase Rieken all the way to that rightmost Ion token, but had repaired all but 2 damage on Endeavor by then so it didn't really matter.

3rd Match vs. Dave Campbell

This was one of my favorite matches of the day. Dave had Demolisher with OE and APT, a Raider 2 with Agent Kallus, Flechette Torpedoes, OE, and Impetuous, Jerjerrod on a flotilla, an ISD 1 with OE, ECM, Tua, and XI7, along with Tempest, a Lambda, Mithel, Black, a Jumpmaster, and Captain Jonus. He went first and chose my Salvage Run.

I had one practice game the day before to test this scenario, and I'm glad I did. He started by sending his Lambda in on its lonesome to steal the leftmost token. I started off the squadron game strong, 2 E-wings killed his Lamda by sniping for 3 each. I had to snipe to keep them within Toryn Farr reroll range. My other 2 ended up sniping Tempest right away as well. Sadly, that was the highlight of my squadrons.

Start of Round 2, I ended up taking a front arc shot from his ISD here, but I collected all 3 tokens this turn (Dave activated the Raider first to claim the token behind it, then jumped at speed 4 and landed behind the flotillas.. He used his Raider to activate 2 of my E-wings and dished out some Mauler damage as well. His Demolisher ended up in a double arc of Admonition and died horribly.

At this point he got an insubstantial crit on the ISD from landing on a rock but avoided my Endeavor front arc. I did get into range so that his flotilla was dead to rights no matter how he moved though, sandwiched between Endeavor and Admonition. Jonus is half-hidden by his ISD, but didn't really play too big of a roll in this game. My E-wing got enough damage on it that I think I flakked it with Endeavor for the final kill in this picture.

Here in rd 4 I escaped from his ISD and the only squadrons left alive are his Mauler and Jumpmaster.

20170218_172147.jpg

Round 5 pretty much ended here. he went first and avoided Admonition, and his Raider couldn't shoot anything due to the dust cloud. I ended up collecting 3 tokens and won a 9-1.

Final Round vs. Truthiness

This was an extremely close game that came down to not only the final roll of the dice but the final crit card. It was a great match and very exciting. Truthiness flew:

Liberty or Death
Author: Truthiness
Faction: Rebel Alliance
Points: 400/400
Commander: Garm Bel Iblis
Assault Objective: Advanced Gunnery
Defense Objective: Fighter Ambush
Navigation Objective: Superior Positions

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57 points)

- Yavaris ( 5 points)
- Flight Commander ( 3 points)
- Fighter Coordination Team ( 3 points)
= 68 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)

- Toryn Farr ( 7 points)
- Bomber Command Center ( 8 points)
= 33 total ship cost

MC80 Star Cruiser (96 points)

- Liberty ( 3 points)
- Flight Commander ( 3 points)
- Flight Controllers ( 6 points)
- Fighter Coordination Team ( 3 points)
= 111 total ship cost

[ flagship ] GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)

- Garm Bel Iblis ( 25 points)
- Quantum Storm ( 1 points)
- Ahsoka Tano ( 2 points)
- Bomber Command Center ( 8 points)
= 54 total ship cost

1 Norra Wexley ( 17 points)

1 Biggs Darklighter ( 19 points)
1 Jan Ors ( 19 points)
1 YT-1300 ( 13 points)
1 Wedge Antilles ( 19 points)
1 Ten Numb ( 19 points)
2 B-Wing Squadrons ( 28 points)
At this point we were at table 5 and I knew I needed to gamble big to have a shot at winning dice. I chose Advanced Gunnery since he didn't have any rerolls or big damage on his Liberty. I chose Admonition for mine.
20170218_182717.jpg
This match my fighters really failed me. They never did more than 1 damage and rolled primarily accuracies. It was rather annoying given that I know they can do better, and Toryn Farr didn't net me any extra damage at all.
I rolled Admonition up ahead aiming for a side arc shot from Liberty next turn, but mostly ended up out of the battle until the end.
Rd 2 started off like:
20170218_183737.jpg
I tried to take down Biggs abut my E-wings failed and are about to die. EHB ended up jumping to speed 3 and landing just in front of Endeavor, dying to bombers this round. Bright hope escaped and is pretty much out of it after this.
20170218_185933.jpg
Bright hope jumped over endeavor, I killed Garm and put some slight damage onto Yavaris at long range. I think I got 1 crit through, but no more than that.
20170218_191724.jpg
My Endeavor got 7 damage and an accuracy to stop his redirect, getting 3 onto the hull of his liberty. Admonition had slowed to 2 the previous turn and now headed back into the fight. At this point I only had a shuttle left, and tried to kill his 1300. I either died to the counter or shortly thereafter.
20170218_193027.jpg
He barely nicked the station to remove a damage here, but Yavaris is barely-by-the-skin-of-his-teeth within black range of Admonition. The first and only time I got to use Advanced Gunnery, I killed Yavaris and in a momentous and fatal mistake, move forward and click one left to try to be ready for Liberty at the start of next turn. I used Lando and burned all 3 of my remaining defense tokens to stop crits, and had 2 damage before @Truthiness rolled a crit on his final bomber. It came up Structural and that was that. It changed a 57 pt win for me into a 7-4 win for Truthiness. And if Admonition hadn't died, his Liberty had 1 shield up front and only needed 5 damage to die. As most of y'all know, Truthiness is a great opponent and this match was fantastic.
All in all, I had a wonderful day and saw a lot of fun lists. Almost everyone had at least one large ship, and a rough guesstimate puts the average squadron count around 6. Plenty of fleets had no BCC for their bombers, and I saw quite a few different admirals (except Tagge). There were a couple of 3 MC30 Sato lists, several dual ISDs, and 4 activations was the norm. Although the games were great and the opponents fun, Games and Stuff really did a piss poor job supporting regionals. As you can tell from the glossiness of the right half of the field against Paul Heaver, that surface was almost as slick as an air hockey table. Half the tables had no mats, and some had shoddy boards that didn't stay together well. The top 6 or so tables seemed to be fine, but honestly, if you're going to host a regional you should be prepared to support it. I wouldn't have minded if they asked us to bring mats since almost everyone has their own (and I believe this is what happened in the WV regional last year), but to have such a haphazard set of tables really diminished the games. And it's not like Games and Stuff is a bad store, their selection was top notch, and they don't have comics, just pure games. I'd definitely shop here again if it were closer.
