[Srange Remnants] Plea to the Court of Azathoth

By Shooock, in General Discussion

If you use Clayrovance and want use a Clue token for the mystery's purpose, the "nearest Wilderness Space" is based on investigator's position or clue's position?

"...to place 1 Eldritch token on the nearest Wilderness space that does not contain an Eldritch token. "

Investigator's position it is. ;)

During the Encounter Phase , you may test Lore . If you pass, you may choose to encounter a Clue as if you are on its space, ignoring Monsters on that space.

I'd say you are considered to be on that Space for all effects until the Encounter is fully resolved.

Yeah, I'm not sure how the first poster here misread your question, but Clairvoyance instructs you to have the encounter as though you were on that space, so any clue that's on a Wilderness space will do. Where your investigator is doesn't matter.

That's exactly what the clarification for the Clayrovance states.
However, one could argue that you place the Eldritch token after resolving the Research Encounter so the "relocation" effect no longer applies.

I guess we would need the exact wording on the card to be sure and maybe even then ask Nikky.

Worry not, I've sent the question last friday.

Which is exactly what I was implying earlier. Of course, Nikki might prove me wrong. We shall see.

Official response from Nikki Valens:

The effect is referring to the space nearest the investigator, not nearest the Clue. So if an investigator is using the Clairvoyance Spell to encounter a Clue, she would be placing the Eldritch token on the Wilderness space that is nearest to her Investigator token (assuming that space does not already contain another Eldritch token).
