Talisman Forum after February

By JediKnightAmoeba, in Talisman

I have not seen anything regarding this but seeing how GW is with their IP, it is very possible these forums associated with their games, will be gone after February. There is a lot of content that is really great and I wonder if there is anyone or anyway to archive it? Especially when we are talking homebrew ideas...most of it is on www.talismanisland.com but a lot will be lost to the horrible black void if the forums suddenly disappear.

Losing the content in these forums would be a travesty considering the really good material here and an utter lack of a USEFUL FAQ in the last 5 years.... Anyone have any insight here?

Well, you could always try the Wayback Machine .

It's only been saved once, back in May of 2016. But that's better than nothing. I'm not sure how to get them to save the page again.

I couldn't find any forum on the games workshop site, so that would just leave the board game geek site as a place to meet and share future talisman ideas. Jon, could you consider adding a chat forum to Talisman island? Might be a stupid idea as I have no idea what it takes (or costs) to set up and maintain.

If this forum is closed, how we will keep in touch?

Is there any big Talisman forum out there? (I know a very good one but it's in polish, so no good to most people).

EDIT: Yeah, BGG might be the way to go.

It's February, the forum has changed. I even have links to the actual games in my profile for my top 100. I think the forum is better so far, and its not gone.

Games Workshop did away with all their forums years ago - I used to frequent them a lot and they were out of control. Rather than moderate it and provide a forum for questions regarding their games they dropped it altogether and wanted you to call their help line or ask one of their specialists in their stores......you could call 5 times and get 5 different answers....Their game "specialists" rarely had any knowledge beyond what they heard from other gamers so that was rarely helpful either.

GW is very funny about their IP. They have taken a completely opposite stance from most other gaming manufacturers in trying to control the information on the internet and the way their games are sold - which is a shame really.

With the way they are, I doubt these forums will be archived but I hope I am wrong.
