The paneling on the G1-A looks great - I did try a transparent green tip that Stoneface gave me, but wasn't really happy with the result - you look to have pulled it off nicely
Thanks! Yes, I've tried a couple different paints, and this one just seems to work better. I'm not at home right now, but I'll try to remember to check what it is. The stuff is something like fifteen years old, so it might not be available any longer. Heh.
So, the green I used on the G1-A is Liquitex Translucent Acrylic Phthalocyanine Green. They also do translucent in a Naphthol Crimsom and an Ultramarine Blue with similar jewel properties. I'm thinking of trying the red and set up a Crimson Empire, ha ha.

I like the grey details. I think the Interceptor on the right needs the darker solar panels as well. It breaks up the ship and helps the eye pick up the different parts of the ship.
The bright cockpits look great with this scheme.
I agree with Piscopas. The grey and the dark panels help make the red seem more "red" due to the contrast between it and the other colors.
It's more interesting visually to have solid colors interrupted here and there.

I was lucky enough to pick up a Gold/Silver/Bronze pack which I think they may now have discontinued, but I've found the Bronze & Gold excellent for fine detailing...you do have to be careful with subsequent handling and varnishing to seal, as they take a while to 'set' [or sometimes don't depending on the surface they're used on]
I find I still have enough control with a pen to 'colour in' small details, so they may be worth trying out...if they don't work out for you, someone else in the family/friends may be able to make use of them

was with the bronze, and the cannons towards the rear cockpit with the silver...cheers

Funnily enough, I did look at these as my regular x-wing opponent started Gundam modelling last summer, but I'd just splashed for a set of 12 of these, similar, acryllics for fine colour detail:

The latter have a softer, rounder tip better for covering larger areas - only problem is that the [comparatively] rough surface of some parts of 3d prints tends to damage the tips

Cheers! In proper light, the cockpit and the more central sections of the wings are actually copper, which then blends to gold, and then (poorly) to silver. I shall have to continue working on that.
The Khiraxz, too, is a bit...ham-handed. I'm getting better, but my ambition still outstrips my ability by a fair margin.
Just added a magnet to this repaint. It's a little unstable, but I think I will come to like it.
Touching up some of my Rebels. The A-Wings aren't there yet, but the B-Wing is getting very close.

Edited by Kleeg005So, with G4H coming soon (yea!), I decided to try to mod one of my current 'Vipers. Dropped it in the freezer for a half an hour or so, having heard that would made the glue brittle enough to work the wings free. In the process of trying to gently pry apart the two halves of the fuselage, I managed to snap one of the wings right off. So. I gently snapped the rest of the wings off and did a quick and dirty glue job. Now I just need to touch up the paint. I think it still looks like a bit of all right. I'm still game to try this mod again - maybe leaving the ship in the freezer for a full hour?
I also note that almost all of the previous images have reverted to gibberish, as so many others have found theirs doing. siiiigh.
Retouched my modded 'Viper. It was a little too flash for my tastes. Also, **** that flash setting!
I also painted up my third Scyk (the one on the right). A couple washes of green, then some bronze, then a final wash of a different green before some detailing. I retouched the two older Scyks while I was at it, added more detailing.
I need to get some pictures on the table, under the fluorescent lights at the FLGS - they look completely different there.
Love the folded wings Viper. I have only one Vipper and I hate it, but don't feel safe to mod it that way. Love yours.

But yeah, the folded wings are...interesting. I really want to manage to get one modded such the that wings actually move. I reckon I need...three more. Maybe four. One of each to leave stock, and one to attempt to the moving-mod. And one probably for bollocksing-up.
