yesterday was my first game against Hastur and we stumbled upon a question regarding the reckoning effect on the blight condition. The card says:"The allies you surround yourself with act eratically and without cause. Flip this card"

What happens if i have no card with the trait "Ally"; Does the reckoning effect not trigger? I suggested that the first sentence was some introductional lore and has nothing to do with the game mechanic itself. Is that true?

It's just flavour text. You flip the card even if you have no allies.
