RoL versus Pets

By Ceahorse, in Road to Legend

I was wondering how people are dealing with pets with the app and with the co-op quest expansions.

I'm tempted at times to attack it, but I feel as if I am cheating in doing so as they are only worth a fatigue without any adjustment to moral, especially if there is a hero within range.

However, I also feel bad at times ignoring it as the wolf tears though mobs in act one, and that makes for five attack rolls and three moves in a 2 hero game.

If the app says to engage the closest, and a target-able familiar is the closest, we engage the familiar.

If the app says to attack the character with the lowest attribute of some kind, and a familiar is attack-able, since its attribute value is 0, we attack it.

If, however, there is a CHOICE as to whom to attack (i.e. a hero versus a familiar), and both are equally valid, we will make an "intelligent" decision for the automated OL. That is to say, if the hero could be killed with that attack, we choose for RTL to attack the hero, since if the hero is killed, the morale will be lowered by 1, allowing RTL to potentially win the encounter.

If the hero is a tank, with alot of armor and health, we may choose to attack the familiar instead, especially if by doing so, we can kill the familiar, and potentially mitigate the number of attacks the monsters will take the next time around.

Essentially, as very experienced gamers, we attempt to play the game in its hardest mode possible, providing the RTL OL with intelligence, when all other things are equal.

I agree with any2cards. Whenever there's a choice to make, try thinking as an Overlord, that will make the game more interesting and will improve your expirience with it.

Now, I don't think killing a familiar is a waste of an attack. It takes an action to bring back a familiar, which can be seen as a stun. I mean, if you kill a familiar in a single attack, it's almost as if you had stunned the hero, because his next action would have to be to bring the familiar back.

This, this, this - sooooo much this! If it were possible to spam a post with likes I would do it.
