I have created a forum for the development of the plugin. I am not sure if it will be accepted by all developer, but it might be a good source to bundle all the different efforts to push this project.
The link to the forum is: www.vendolis.org/forum
You can also upload data there, though I take a close look that no materials are uploaded that have copyright problems to avoid problems with FFG/GW.
I also have put there the most recent version of the SE plugin that Hurlanc posted on Megaupload (I dislike that site... ;-) )
oops sorry vendolis ! i just recalled the mail you send me a few days ago. This forum is a good idea ! We'll discuss artwork as well as coding
I dislike megaupload too, but i needed somewhere to upload and hammerzeit limits size of files at 2mb iirc.
Haku : i'll see that asap ! (though i'll be away next week ... again)
Should we expect a new release with the implementation of Iffo's action cards soon?
Hi will installing the new release wipe any of the other work you did on the previous version?
I'd like to see what you are doing with the new plug in, but didn't fancy removing the previous plug in and associated cards just yet!
You can't run both plugins at the same time but if you move the original W3ee file to you desktop while you try the new one, its no problem. And then you can just switch it back again afterwards. Worked for me.
But isn't it possible to rename the components of the new one to allow both? The old copyrighted material one is pretty nice, so I'd hate giving it up. At the same time I would also like to use this new one.
hi
i'll be off for a week, but i note your suggestion.
If I find some time I may be able to help with image layouts. I do find this whole thing to be absolutely absurd, but oh well, I am not in charge at FFG or GW. So I will play with a few things and see what I can find. The way I plan on looking at it is to use the existing Strange Eon cards (for actions and talents) then grafting a base image over the templates. This way the cards will be the proper size to match with talents and the Action cards (as the cards are the same size. The sockets should not be a problem. I will alter the shape, but not the color of the image, make sense. That way, the difference should be minimal. I will also work on the talents and change the layout slightly, but they will be close enough to the real thing that they will be barely different, but use absolutely none of the original artwork from FFG or GW so it will be copyright friendly. If this will help Hurloc or anyone on here, let me know and I will see what I can do. I will start with Talent cards since I have a heavy needs of those asap. If anyone has any ideas or comments on how to make it close, but not exact, or any other thoughts for the layout let me know. May take me a week or two, but I should get to the images soon, hopefully (fingers crossed).
I do not understand this decision. Strange Eons remains and those cards look exactly like FFG arkham cards. You can make whatever you want for Arkham with that game and I swear, you could totally copy all of Arkham with Strange Eons. The problem is the FFG marketing scheme honestly. They wanted to bleed us cards and are now paranoid we will use a program to make homebrews to copy the originals. Well, if that is a problem, just give us the cards. Besides, we can scan away or photocopy away or whatever we want, so the program really is not going to help those who want to pirate the cards, they will anyway. In my opinion, this is fan harassment spawned by a bad marketing scheme (the amway of the roleplaying world, if you will). Still, I love the game and was looking forward to making my own homebrews. I cant wait to recopy every last card now and print them all out for my group and stop my players from buying the cores so all of our homebrews can match and we will have a totally my IP game with their rules on all my beautiful homebrews! LOL. Kidding, totally kidding. It is just foolish to me they would go to this length when even with a program that does basically the same thing, it still gives me a way to copy, even their precious stuff from their adventurers Toolkit, which should have been stuck in the core anyway. Just my two cents.
Anyway, I will get to work on my layouts soon only if somebody wants, needs or can use the card templates I make up. Let me know. Graphics is something I can do and do it well. I would also like to start to work on the Pet cards, though that may be a bit more difficult for the parchment & leather effect, but if nobody wants it, just let me know either way if I am wasting my time or not as I cannot program a lick onto the cards. Just let me know.
Sincerely, commoner.
We are collecting the arts at the moment in the SE forum: www.vendolis.org/forum/viewforum.php
There are already the layout arts of Iffo and the most recent SE Version. Since Hurlanc is off a week I will see that I put up a version with Iffos work somewhat mid next week.
I wish I had a copy of the old extension. It would be so helpful to me.
Good luck with the new version guys!
As a suggestion, I know it isn't pretty like the FFG dice graphics ... but what about using NezNotation (colored in the appropriate color font) for dice symbols?
@ commoner:
considering AH and SE ... I expect the majority of the "fear" and pressure comes from GW, who are notorious from protecting their copyright.
dvang :
we're waiting for FFG guidelines for fan-made content, it will eventually make clear what can be used what can't. Considering dice pictures, idon't think there could be a copyright on black squares, white squares, purple losanges... IF we need to scrap these symbols, we may use neznotation or fan-made pics.
more than the majority, the overall pressure. I believe FFG is not pleased with this ban. After all, they did allow and support SE for Arkham Horror
FFG advertising for an application programmer, pure coincidence or is the possibility of an official card creation program in the offing?

I could totally do that position. It's too bad it's in Minnesota. I left Michigan for a few reasons, one of which was snow, and it's worse in Minnesota. Now, if they'd let me commute electronically so I can stay in Oregon, I might apply.
It'd be cool to work for FFG.

I heard it's hiding in Poland somewhere though.
But I think progress is being made on the community plugin, so that's going to be nice.

Yey, I'm from Poland so I can look for it if needed
Anyway, thanks for developing SE v1 and v2.
We're two developers right now, (Vendolis and I) and Iffo's doing great work on designing original templates.
If other designers want to create their own career templates, we'll be happy to include them !
Having not played AH for a looong time I had no idea this tool was out there. Now that I've downloaded it and knowing you're working hard for a fan-use tool for WHRP using it I have to say megathanks. This thing is AWESOME!
second release for SE extension v 2.0 see first page for download links.
here is the change log :
- added Disease and Mutation Cards. These cards does not existe in FFG core set, they've been created by Doc-Cthulhu and Sunatet on HammerZeit forum.
- added Monster Sheets. This card does not exist either. All design made by Iffo, many thanks to him. Coding in SE was a real pain though due to zounds of textfields, i even reached the limits of SE at some points. I hope it'll be useful !
- a few tweaks for the Career card : 2 additionnal talent slots on the bottom of the card (they are totally optional). Vendolis will release another version soon
Known issues :
- The advances part is not very cute,
- considering the stance graphics, we still need original ones. Those by Haku are a bit too close to the genuine graphic.
- all captions are not customizable (characteristics ..) >> i promised that last time, but as Schwarzy says in Commando : "I lied"

Woooohoooo, new version
One question: can I use it along with the old plugin?
I mean, I don't have isues with background changes, but I made some translations for my players, and few cards for incoming session, and I don't want to loose them.
You can't use both at the same time, because when i started v2.0 i used v1 backbone, but you can switch between them.
Maybe later i'll spend some time to make v2 compatible with v1
I'm not sure if it's Strange Eons or my setup, but, for example, in the monster card, I cannot access most of the bottom monster action cards' text fields and I cannot scroll down to access them. I'm guessing it's a resolution problem, as I would probably be able to see all the text fields with a better resolution, but is there any other solution to this problem?
you're right, i didn't notice before, but you can't scroll down when some panels are too big...
My resolution is 1280x1024, i guess you'll have to switch yours to this value
sorry
New version uploaded. Check it here
Change log :
- Added a fourth line for monsters, added also the defense icon (or is it a heart-shaped icon ?)
- i corrected this error for special rule#3
- Added action cards. Improvements since version1 : the cost/duration is now a text field you can now design cards that last 254 rounds if you like. I also added pictures for ranks (stars under cost) IMO all cards should have ranks, and should be very visible right on the card. This is of course optional since you can set the value to zero.
