Hi Folks

Just bought the Innsmouth expansion which I have yet to play. I'm just wondering if I can safely incorporate the Arkham Location Encounter cards from the Innsmouth expansion into the base set while still playing the base game, just to add a little variety. I've perused the cards and, at cursory glance, there do not seem to be any specific references to the rest of the Innsmouth expansion. But perhaps this will unbalance the game in some other more subtle way. Any thoughts?

It's probably okay. You could also add Dunwich and Kingsport cards without any issues. Every once in a while a card might come up that references a component that's not in use (such as Rail Pass or a Dunwich Condition card). Depending on whether you can actually use what is listed, you can then decide whether or not to keep the encounter card or draw again.

The Innsmouth cards do not reference anything not in the base game. You don't even get into the innsmouth look deck unless you are in innsmouth.
