Delve First Session

Hey guys,

just wanted to share our first playthrough of the Delve with you guys and ask if some of you experienced the same things as we did.

First off:

We really liked it though the time estimate was as wrong as it could have been...

It took us roughly 8 hours to play through this... not 2 as advertised. Granted some turns could have been played quicker, but 400% the time? Can´t really explain that with a bit slower gameplay.

We are well experienced in Descent so it wasnt all rules checking etc either. Dunno, I feel like boss stages would be around an hour, the others maybe at least half an hour? Cant see this getting played under 4h, seriously.

The game should also notify you in the beginning about heroic feats and that they will be usable again only after the First boss, so one reset! We were wondering that all the time untill we killed the first boss with 3 heroic feats unused -.-

The balance was alright I guess, it felt a bit too easy (normal mode) right until the very end when the whole difficulty exploded and it was like times 50 that hard haha. Lost 3 morale and almost another hero which would have ended our run right there! it came down to dice rolls in the end which is a good sign considering the difficulty balance since either side could have won this. Even all heroic feats and a ton of Shop 2 weapons didn´t guarantee a win there. Just saying double activating Master Shadowdragon with a ton of health ;)

So even if it was very close, I just wonder if "normal,normal,normal,hard" difficulty wouldnt be more fun than our "easy,easy,easy,Super killer tough".

We played double support, so maybe thats why it took us a bit longer as well? But we didn´t experience any Perils... there was 1 message during an early stage that did like 2 dmg and then in the final bossfight there was a crazy tough one, but other than that nothing ever happened after the turn ended... was that a bug somehow? Or were we really that fast that nothing bad happened?

In short:

- We really had a great time!

- Would like the difficulty curve to flatten out a bit with harder first five lvls and a bit easier final to be engaged more before the final.

- Did you guys get almost never any message when you ended your turns? (in our run like 1 time tiny amount of dmg in stage 2 and then nothing until every round in the final)

Were you trying to kill everything for that extra item or just trying to get to the portal as fast as you could? My first delve was with 3 buddies and we only got to the start of act II and it took about 3 hours. My second delve was a solo 3 hero run and I finished it completely in about 4 hours. At first I was trying to kill everything til I got hit with the moral killing peril. Would of made it but two heroes got hit with immobilize on the warning round. After that I just focused on the objective and pushed through.

Couple things I think they could improve upon. Shouldn't the item drop keeper amount be one less than the number of heroes and then a bonus for clearing the room? And I ran into the same shadow dragon in both my act I boss fights but something seemed off. First bout was with 4 heroes so the +12 seemed fine but the second time around was only 3 heroes but still had +12. Felt like an oversight and should be relative to the number of heroes. So second time I played it as a +9 and it felt right. I'm worried that it's designed with only 4 heroes in mind. While I can handle 4 in a solo run I'd much prefer 3 due to time and space.
