Rules for Dark Elf player characters

By Malus4, in WFRP House Rules

Has anybody got rules or ideas for dark elf player characters? what sort of race specific careers?

Thanks

Bump, w/ Explanation

My gaming group and I have decided to get the core set. I want to play a dark elf. Now unless one of the other supplements has it, Does anyone have a good idea for dark elf characters? What about Dark Magic.

I decided to bump this old post rather then start a new one so you know I’ve gone through the forums already…

I'll take a stab at starting it:

Dark Elf Characters

Malice: A dark elf character gains 1 fortune die to all Melee Attack and Ranged Attack actions against high or wood elves, or opponents which have been critically wounded.

Bloodlust: During character creation, a dark elf can choose one Tactic talent for free. This does not use any of the dark elf's creation points.

Khaine's Children: During character creation, a dark elf may choose one of the following basic skills to train – Guile, Observation, Skullduggery, Weapon Skill

Night Vision: Two fewer misfortune dice are added to a dark elf's dice pool for any effects from darkness or lack of sufficient light.

Wound Threshold : 8 + Toughness rating

Str 2, Agi 3, Tou 2, Int 2, Will 3, Fel 2 – 20 Creation Points

There are some dark elf action cards in the Creature Vault, also.

The creature guide has an entry. Might be a good place to start.

Also the WFB book Dark Elves is a must.

jh

That looks fine for base race stats I don't really know how to play yet, Just purchased the Core...

What about Class? I want to play a sorceress. I have noticed that elves don't have any spell casting classes. what do I do about that? And Dark Magic?

Winds of Magic is what you're looking for for Dark Magic (though there is no career card for sorcerers).

In terms of careers just use the wizard careers and pick up the Dark Magic college/talent and away you go...just refer to him/her as a sorceress and upper cut anyone who questions your authority.

Witch's Song has the witch career in it, but that might not be worth the price point.

The Player's Guide (available in PDF from RPGnow and DrivethruRPG) has the "lite" rules for Dark Magic, but non of the chit-n-bits. If you want those you are back to picking up Winds of Magic. The Player's Vault only has core components in it so don't bother with that unless you want copies of action cards, careers and talents from the core set.

You're most likely going to have to home brew some stuff in order to get the most fun out of it, since Dark Elves aren't really an intended player race. The fluff just doesn't really line up with WFRP enough to make a good case for FFG ever doing that kind of thing (at least not until they are scraping the barrel for expansion ideas). For custom cards, n such you should pick up the fan-made card creation program online.

Yeah I ordered that Supplement from my local store (they only carried the Core box), and the creature vault, I hope that will help me. Thank you.

You don't think that there will be an expansion that allows elves to be casters?

yes *.

Dark Elves may get expanded more as adversaries and such but I wouldn't hinge any hopes and dreams on FFG publishing Cold One follower cards, the Witch Elf or Dark Elf Corsair careers though...not unless it is integral to some reverse dungeon/adventure scenario. But heck, I've been surprised before. However, as written (this is not a commentary on anyones tastes and this is houserules after all) there just isn't a Drizz't vibe with the Dark Elves in Warhammer (they aren't dark skinned, and if they are nice they are...high elves living amongst dark elves). "Playing the bad guys" usually tends to be a supplement reserved for the end of an edition cycle in most games.

That is only an "official" restriction from published content though. In light of that you guys could probably run rampant with your own home-brew careers, actions, talents, etc for playing a blood drinking, scantily clad, lizard loving, sociopathic dark elf. Just snag the WFRP plug-in for Strange Eons and start baking up horror and murder for your Dark Elf!

* The previous editions always died out before an Elf supplement was released (officially) so...hopefully 3rd time's a charm!
