Party Tension Meter

By Bertolac, in WFRP Gamemasters

Basically, how are you using it? What kind of things make it go up in your games? How have your players responded? What are the big do's and don't's of it?

Cheers.

I am slowly taking my new players through the standards of WFRP: greenskins, beastmen, skaven, cultists and demons. There is a demon they will encounter who, when nearby, causes others to become on edge. I will use the party tension meter to track his influence on the PCs.

My PCs didn't know each other prior to setting out, so the first session we didn't have a party sheet. When they formally banded together they selected a sheet, but started with a little party stress because they were new to working with each other.

When the mage miscast magic (and they didn't know she was a wizard's apprentice) party tension went up a lot.

Tension decreased once they returned to the village and had a chance to rest and recuperate.

They are about to have a massive battle, and the party tension is starting to ramp up slowly as anticipation builds.
