Hey, who do you think will be included as Investigators in this expansion?

By my count we have 7 men and 5 women to go, which is weird - I always thought there was gender balance.

Anyway assuming they would go for gender balance in the next small expansion (4 investigators), here are my guesses:

I definitely wouldn't rule out the four new investigators from MoM2E.

I'd bet the farm that it's no coincidence that new characters were introduced right as EH was starting to run low on possible characters to use.

One patient in particular gave her vivid and disturbing descriptions of his dreams, right up until he was murdered with a strange knife that closely resembled something from one of his nightmares. "

• Amanda Sharpe, the Student - " (...) she has begun to dream of the vast green depths of the ocean and terrible alien cities that lie in its darkest crevasses "

• "Ashcan" Pete, the Drifter - " His nightmares have been growing steadily worse over the last month, driving him all the way here "

everyone said it was going to be Dunwhich.. then Dunwhich expansion was announced for Arkham TCG and i knew it was gonna be dreamlands

Dunwich alone wouldn't have made any sense whatsoever anyway! All big expansions so far featured entire continents (MoM) or countries (UtP). This is not Arkham Horror, any expansion with only a small village or even a county would be totally out of place in a game that covers the entire world. If there will be an expansion with Dunwich it will be a New England expansion with the entire so-called Lovecraft Country, including not only Dunwich but Arkham, Innsmouth, Kingsport, Boston, Providence etc.

not particularly, however, many of the investigators link so closely to the dreamlands, it's kind of a done deal for some of them.

I would also expect Gloria as she is an author of weird fiction of some renown. Lovecraft himself was inspired by his night-terrors and dreams and I have a feeling that Gloria is meant to be a reflection of his experience. Maybe then, Agatha Crane, Vincent Lee, and (I would like to say Kate, but then there is no gender balance) Daryl Simmons?

Maybe somewhat... but that was some seriously good deduction!

Doubtful, its usually a couple months for something to go from printer to on the boat, and on the boat is another month. We probably won't see it before February.

If you look at the dates, there's one item that's been in printing status since July, and quite a few more from September. So at least 2 months.

Just got back from Arkham Nights and got to play the Dreamlands there. Really loving some of the flavor for it, keeps with the sideboard theme that the other large box expansions have but is still different too.

I can confirm (from seeing the Dreamlands rulebook at Arkham Nights) that Kate Winthrop is in the Dreamlands expansion... and I'm super excited to give her a try!

Sorry, didn't mean to tease for so long. Non-mythos life got in the way.

Just like the other large boxes you can either have an ancient one or a prelude card generate the Dreamlands sideboard.

The board connects in 3 major locations on the main board that you generate randomly by flipping gates. These portals to the dreamlands can move as the game progresses. There is another way to get to the Dreamlands just like the other sideboards, when you take a rest you can "will" yourself there instead of healing.

The one big thing that I recall from my play of it is that gates are used much more with the expansion. A particular rumor card spawned the Render of Veils which just started moving around the board opening gates for fun.

Talents are still around and so are the inclusion of tarrot card items that have various effects.

My game was preset with investigators so I didnt get to see all the new ones. We played with Charlie Cane, Lily Chen, Jim Culver, and one other I can't recall.

To add to what Sid mentioned:

They didn't have the new investigators at Arkham Nights. However, Kate Winthrop was clearly visible on the "contents" page of the Dreamlands Manual.

I believe her skills were 3-2-4-2-2 (I'm 90% sure on the Strength and Will and 100% sure on her Observation skill).

Her ability was: "Action: If you are on a space with a gate, you may discard one monster on your space with toughness less than your Observation skill" (which is awesome, considering her starting Observation is 4).

Her passive was: "If a gate would spawn in your space, discard the gate and gain 1 clue" (won't happen all that often unless you're teamed with Akachi, but when it does, it will be amazing)

I've had the exact same idea for Render of Veils. I can not wait to see some kind of official preview

I think William Yorick is actually not a type at all. He's very balanced in Mansions of Madness. 7 Stamina, 7 Sanity, and all of his other stats are 3 or 4. I've no idea why a salesman would be a natural pick for dreamlands but I'll be glad to see Kate and the student! Come to think of it if "Fighter type" was the basis of your prediction then Rita Young would qualify more wouldn't she?

I was basing some characters off their Personal Stories in Arkham Horror, and guessing that if there's another small box after this one they'll want gender parity.

Bob and William were the bubble characters but based on gender split and leaving a team with a balance of skills for the small box, they seemed like good candidates.

Maybe they'll just forget about parity and put Vincent and Carolyn in the Dreamlands this time around.

Sorry to stray a bit off topic but I'm just wondering what you guys mean by MoMe2, has there been rumors about a revised version of Mountains of Madness?

Or is it an expansion to the first expansion?

Anyway, I'm really excited about dreamlands!
