First game some questions

By Slade, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

With the RtL app out I (finally) got into Descent to play solo or, every now and than, coop with friends. Played my first game solo the get familier with the rules and mechanics of the game. A few thing I wanted to clarify.

1. With Smoking Vial I managed to get a poison condition on a monster. What is the impact of the poison condition on monsters?

I understood monsters without attributes will auto fail the might test, required by the poison condition, at the start of its activation. Due to failing the test the monster will receive 1 damage.

2. The Apothecary can brew an Elixer once a turn. By discarding an Elixer token the hero can heal himself but this doesn't cost an action. On the contrary a Health Potion Search card cost a hero an action due to the specifice arrow on the card.

3. The Conjurer has Channeling. Part of the Channeling card says it costs a hero action (specific arrow) to attack measuring range from an image token. There is no exhaust so a hero could attach twice using this card ability.

4, In the RtL tutorial an Ettin appears. I managed to stun the ettin which meant that in the Ettin activation it was only allowed 1 action during its activation, right?.

4. In above example, the Ettin wasn't stunned yet, had the instruction to attack an adjecent unit so it did. The next instruction activated the Throw ability on the Ettin. Am I reading it right that the Throw abiltiy is not an attack action therefore the Ettin is allowed to first attack and then throw before ending his activation?

Sorry for the questions but it took me a while (massive confusion from my end) before I understood that the specific arrow symbol doesn't exchaust a card and therefore the action with the arrow can be made 1 or 2 times during the hero activation. Since I played solo wanted to double check on the forum.

There's not that much confusion since everything seems right to me :)

1. Same thing as on a hero. The only issue is a monster cannot make a might save so he just loses the 1 hp each turn. So your assumption is correct.

2. Correct.

3. I believe that also costs fatigue (I don't have the material in front of me so I could be wrong), but yes as long as you have the image token deployed and fatigue to do it you can do it twice a turn.

4. Technically it still has 2 actions, but must spend the first to discard the stunned condition.

5. This is where it may get tough to explain. Any action that requires you to roll attack dice whether it says attack or not is an attack action. Throw requires a might(?) save, not defensive dice to be rolled and the damage is set, not randomized by dice. Therefore throw is not an attack.

Recent sets have been better about labeling attack actions as attacks, but earlier stuff can be confusing in some cases.

Please ask! This is a great game with a fantastic community, welcome to it!

Thx. for responses. After first play and google some queuries seems I managed to find the right answers.
