Refining 3 of my favorite Rebel Lists

By Voglaz, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi,

Relatively new player trying to craft a viable Rebel list that I can bring to tourneys. I'm going to one this weekend and I have a few lists I've been thinking on and flying casually. I was hoping some more experienced players could give me feedback, thanks.

1. Miranda/Wes/Biggs

Miranda - TLT - Homing Missles - Extra Munitions - Chopper - Long Range Scanner - 42 points

Wes - R3-A2 - Integrated Astro - Cool Hand - 32 points

Biggs - R4-D6 - Integrated Astro - 26 points

100 Pt Total

Could also throw VI on Wes instead of Cool hand. I would try to fly them tight formation for the opening 3 moves or until Miranda gets her payload off. Then She can break and ping away with TLT while Wes and Biggs work together.

2. Wes/Biggs/2 Golds

Wes - R3-A2 - Integrated Astro - 31 points

Biggs - R4-D6 -Integrated Astro - 26 Points

Gold Sqd Pilot - Auto Blaster Turret - R2 Astromech - 21 Points

Gold Sqd Pilot - Auto Blaster Turret - R2 Astromech - 21 Points

99 Point Total

I wanted to use the Gold Squadron Ywings to rush in backed up by Biggs and Wes. They could block/autoblast but I realize they might struggle to catch up to aces. Are they viable or should I drop them for Bs or a K-wing?

3. Miranda/Lothal/Biggs

Miranda - TLT - Long Range Scanners - 35 Points

Biggs - R4-D6 -Integrated Astro - 26 Points

Lothal Rebel - Auto Blaster Turret - Chopper - Hera - 38 Points

99 Point Total

I think this is one that could use some work but also one that might be the most viable because of the tanky, hard hitting Lothal Rebel. Maybe I should drop Miranda for Wes or a B-wing Ace?

I think I like them in the order of 3, 1, 2. That third one looks super solid, aside from not really needing the bid. The first one is good, but I would think about guidance chips on Miranda instead of long range scanners, and you already have thought about VI on Wes. The middle one is solid and can do work, but two small base autoblasters is going to be hard to catch aces. Also, if you have adaptability throw it on Wes. It's free and can get him up to a nine, if you don't have the points for another EPT.

All in all, it looks like you know what you are doing and it'll probably just come down to execution. Good luck!

Talking about the third list here. I'd recommend swapping Miranda for a second Lothal Rebel with Autoblaster Turret, then dropping Hera to make it a square hundred points.

A note on long range scanners: Their main benefit is in letting you take an offensive focus action as well as a target lock before shooting to boost your damage potential. This extra focus token will give you, on average, one extra hit. Guidance chips will always give you one extra hit and doesn't require an action to use. Therefore, long range scanners is only better i you're going to have trouble acquiring and maintaining a target lock.

Thanks for the critiques. I don't have a second Ghost yet but I may snag another soon since it seems to be one of the Rebel's few strong points lately.

Ah nice summary of Long Range Scanners and Guidance Chips. I'll make those changes and try to get in some games. I flew list 1 the most so far and have had success in those

two casual games. Will probably try the 3rd list tonight with the tweaks. Want to get good flying the ghost!
