A story of a Fetch and a Toad

By thebonefaerie, in Talisman Rules Questions

I know this maybe a stupid question. But if you land on the Toad king can playing the Fetch prevent you from being Toaded?*ribbet* we are all on the fence

Fetch-Follower

When you are required to lose 1 or more life, fate, Strength, or Craft, or to discard one or more of your Objects, Followers or Spells, you may discard the Fetch to ignore that effect.

Toad King-Stranger

The King of all Toads welcomes you to its kingdom. If you are a Toad, you revert back to normal and gain 1 Strength or 1 Craft.
If you are not a Toad, you are turned into a slimy, little Toad for 3 turns and the Toad King hops 3 spaces counterclockwise.

Hmmmm So you want to know can Fetch ignore you from being "Turned into a Toad".

Well being "Toaded" does not make you discard your Objects, just when you are a Toad you must discard your Objects. So no it cannot be used to ignore the effect that turns you into a Toad.

Basically any effect that causes you to discard one or more of your Objects you may use Fetch to ignore. Not a effect that once done makes you discard all your Objects.

PS anyway being a Toad forces you to Ditch your Objects not Discard your Objects so there is that (better reason too) :) .

Try the Royal Decree instead :) (an object from the Frostmarch expansion).

The Decree may be used on any Stranger or Place you are about to encounter.

The Stranger or Place is banished to the discard pile, along with this card.
