I think the weapon has to be equal/under the price/rarity of a basic lightsaber with a crystal. It's just the utility item that must be 5 or less.

So, the missus and I went out for a day of celebration into the city, so when I last wrote, I did so from a phone on a train, and maybe was less detailed than I should have been.

The items can be the things that your characters had on them when they were captured, or they can be things found after, but I'd like a consensus on this rather than a different ruling per person just so it makes sense; but, given that I'm seeing a kyuzo with a kyuzo hat, and nobles' clothes and accessories, a box of "his" cigars, and "her father's poetry," I'm beginning to suspect that these are things they had when taken.

Darn, Expensive Jewelry is rarity 7 and 2,000 credits, can't use it as my "utility" item...unless I can give up my weapon for it...? *wink wink nudge nudge*

By all means. Most folks would consider a lack of a weapon a detriment in a galaxy at war.

I've already worked out what equipment Ze'nemon starts with:

• A Kyuzo war shield.
• Concealing robes.
• Provided restricted utility items are accepted, I'll take a set of lockpicking tools. If not, I might just pass on a utility item for now.
• A long strip of bloodied cloth, worn around the left hand and forearm. Are they bandages, or... ?

I'm going with a sniper rifle (I need to look them over but I think the one I liked that's in the Explores book may be priced at the sabre price), armored clothing that looks like a duster, macro binoculars, and his box of cigars.

--A fancy diary (with paper and ink and everything), complete with quill and ink pot, in which she records her dreams.

--Expensive Jewelry (DA pg. 51; Rarity 7, 2,000 cr)

Alright, I think mine is ready:

• One basic lightsaber (purple)
• One set of adverse environmental gear (specialized for the jungle, assists with hot or wet weather)
• One wilderness survival kit, minus the medpac
• A datapad, filled with her father's poetry

And, if we can have a cheap weapon as well as a lightsaber, one ancient sword.

(Her notes are obviously out there somewhere, but she's probably not getting those back.)

Keep your eyes open for additional pick up items (though this isn't a tremendous loot sweeper like Diablo still, you can usually find what your need).

The other thing to consider is that, thinking of the kinds of places we're likely to go, she'll have to leave her fancy duds and flashy bling stowed away a lot, or risk drawing all the wrong sorts of attention...

This may be on me. I read it as all the items had to be rarity 5. But based on his response I'm thinking it's just the utility item. Though there's still the question, can we use the difference between cost of lightsabre and non lightsabre weapon to buy mods?

The Model 38 actually. I don't have the Brawn for the E-11 (not without using Enhance anyway). The Model 38 on the other hand does less damage yes, but still carries some good traits and isn't a slow fire weapon (I had also considered the 3R-8 Take Down from Savage Spirits, which was what the original sheet had, but that's slow firing and prepare!). Also there is a certain amount of charm with a slugthrower. You know.

As an aside I'm down for getting our equipment back during the escape. It makes a bit of sense considering what we are all picking up.

I don't have an issue with the replacement, Absol! I also think picking our gear back up, rather than scavenging new stuff, makes sense, and it works really well for my purposes.

I received word today that my SWSheets bug report has been processed and the word count is no longer an issue, or shouldn't be. So that's good!

Hmmmm now that I've gone over that spread sheet (thanks btw!!!) I can't decide between the Model 38 or the Blast Tech M300. Hmmmm

I can't find the M300, but the Model 38 is pretty legit! I'd go with that, just because people always underestimate slugthrowers! Plus it's more refined and noblemanly to use such an "archaic" weapon .

It's in Savage Spirits. I missed it in my initial scan and it only came to my attention when going over the Excel file that was linked and I was liked huh .... sporting blaster. Though you do have a point about the archaic weapon being more refined and noble. It also helps that the Model 38 is a custom built weapon. Each one is made just for that owner.

Ze'nemon was imprisoned after he tried to get revenge for the betrayal of his clovoc;

DLMA allowed herself to be captured to infiltrate whatever operation is going on and get the detainees out;

Aanu was likely snatched from some ruin while she was researching, or when sharing her findings with someone.

I'm not precisely sure the details of Kalira's capture, nor do I think we've discussed Kolah's.

But that's the story we've got so far, unless I missed something, right? Maybe Kolah was was taken trying to crash a noble's event? Or perhaps he was given a fake Bounty as a test, and when he was able to find the target when all logic says he shouldn't be able to, he was pegged as sensitive and hauled in?

Of course, all this is just me being obsessive as always. If we want to leave some things open or unspoken for now, that might be a good idea too.

A note to everyone: I try my best to moderate myself, but if my constant chatter gets irritating, please let me know. I don't want to annoy any of you, but I am very intense and focused, so I may do so accidentally and I can't know unless you tell me!

Are we captured by the Empire? I was never sure on that. That's why I haven't really posted about how he was captured. If it's the Empire though maybe he took a bounty on an Imperial and it went south for him. Didn't know the Imperial he took had connections and those connections caught up with him.

Also while we're not using Morality are we going with the Strength and Weakness? Those were fairly interesting conceptionally for driving a character.

The chatter is great! I... sort of do the same thing. Which is part of how we ended up with all this great back-and-forth, I suspect!

And, yeah, I figure Aanu picked the wrong place to go researching, tried to intimidate someone she shouldn't have, and ended up captured. Because sometimes you're outnumbered, and not throwing rocks is the better part of valor. Or something like that.

The Tapani sector is fairly well settled and gentrified, and that's kind of my point, really. It's settled and "safe" and designed to be very much like Core worlds, so I don't see why Knowledge Core Worlds shouldn't work in that situation.

Kalira hates the Jedi (she's bought into the Imperial propaganda 100%, and her favorite holovids are the (numerous) ones with Jedi as the villains who get curbstomped by ordinary citizens who realize that their "amazing powers" are just parlor tricks), so guess who's on her short list, despite being the most "normal" looking alien in the group? The first several interactions between these two is going to be great, especially during the in-between time when they realize that they can't seem to get away form each other but haven't yet figured out why !

I foresee a very irritated Aanu attempting to explain that she is not a Jedi, drat it. And then ranting about Imperial propaganda and the people who buy into it. And if people start expecting her to be a member of a dead religion, then they'd better get used to disappointment.

But, yes, this is great. Aanu found a purple lightsaber in some ruin (origin unknown; purple is one of the ambiguous colors...) and is probably the most traditional Force-user here. For all that she's not hugely Jedi-ish. And now they're stuck with each other.
