Second Chances (OOC)

By Comrade Cosmonaut, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

So wait, our infiltrator is hearing the voice of God? Or the voice of the Force, I guess?

...That...actually, doesn't sound as crazy as I thought it would when I started typing this post :) .

Wouldn't I be the Bluetooth guy?

"I need an exit." "You recall a stairwell on the south side of the building."

I could see it going several ways. The PC earns a triumph and the GM reminds the PC that there is an exit to the south that just so happens to have an open view for the team sniper. Or the GM could relay that info to the PC team lead who makes the statement IC "Head to the south of the building".

Both are workable methods. :D

Destiny Point, too.

"Hey, I know I'm in trouble, but didn't I see a service stairway on the way in?" :Flips DP:

Not to hijack my own thread, can I get you folks' opinion here? Aside from the game which shall not be named with Kael, and Blackbird's PbP which just began, I've never actually... played this game. Run it a lot. An awful lot really. But I never got to play.

Until now! I'm going to be a player for the first time since... well six or seven years ago now. And I am so torn. What do you guys think?

Kilo is a clone. He was once a member of the Grand Army of the Republic, and the current state of affairs in the Imperial Armed Services, namely the Stormtroopers, has his feeling very nostalgic and jaded. Once he was proud to serve, now however... He hardly remembers Order 66, doesn't really know what happened that day, but he's sure that he and his brothers gunned down a handful of Jedi and now, decades later, he's questioning why that had to happen.

Over the last several years the clone facilities shut down, there are no more clones being promoted to officer positions, and regular recruit humans are given preferential treatment and better duties and positions within the ranks. Clone regiments and teams are being sent on increasingly dangerous missions. As Captain TX-1986 took Kilo squadron into what people called an obvious suicide mission he had no idea that he would be the only one to survive.

Now he calls himself Kilo for the lost squadron he once commanded, and he's looking to the civilian sectors and the Rebellion with fresh eyes. Soldier Trailblazer into Vanguard with further XP.

Pakkala has escaped slavery at the hands of the Empire. He slew his captors with his bare hands and tried to save as many as he could, but none of his brothers or sisters would come with him. He has been disgraced as a Madclaw. He took the life of others, and did so with his climbing claws. Not wanting to risk recapture, and unwilling to force his family to escape, Pakkala ran. Afraid and alone he's taken to the Outer Rim to hide, taken to the border planets and far sectors where he sells his skills and what remains of his pride as muscle for hire.

Over the last few years his anger has subsided and been replaced with a calmness, but he knows it's still there, a part of who he is at his core. He still raises his fists to fight, but he never uses his claws. Perhaps one day he can atone for his mistakes and finally rescue his people. Guardian Warden into Warleader with further XP.

Aanu .oO(No, I'm a dangerous telekinetic.)

Yeah, I picked it up from a MUSH.

Both are paths of redemption after moral ambiguity--for following orders, or not following them. I also like Kilo for the clones, because I feel like they interject some soft science into the sci-fantasy. Depending on the game's premise, both work. If the clones/rebellion/Jedi feature at all (and what wouldn't feature at least one or some of them?) then I'd go with Kilo for his strong motivation and connection.

And not at all because his experience and human relateablity might speak to an ex-Imperial architecture student with a penchant for grenades. Pakkala and Paloma could have an excellent Zalbar/Mission thing.

Well, only one of those two are Force users...

Well, this isn't a GMPC, so it's not for this game. It's for a face to face thing. Just looking for input. Thoughts. Suggestions.

Oh god someone make this decision for me...

Ah, I get it now.

I am favorable of Wookiees and Wardens in general, although it seems a lot of people like to use Warden. Something about playing old clones just doesn't appeal to me.

Fair enough. Thanks for the input.

Also, no, no GMPCs. It never goes well. I have one in my ace to face game, but only because the players forced me to keep the guy around. I just park him on the ship and use him as an assistant from time to time. Also comedy.

I vote Kilo, too! The Clones are awesome, and should get more screentime whenever possible!

I'd vote for Pakkala mostly because I love playing Force users of some sort. Also having not seen Vanguard and Trailblazer I'm not sure if I can rate them better than playing a Warden. :)

So what I've learned is that women like a man in uniform. /sexism

Heteronormative jerk :P!

You joke, but I am the one who drools over Captain Phasma. (Not that she's a man in uniform, but the point still stands.)

I am big Phasma fan, too!

Not because of the uniform, but because she's tough, and I like tough chicks! If you don't know the proper counter to an inside crescent kick, don't waste my time :P !*

Shy, I think you and I are going to get along even better than I originally anticipated ;) !

I'm not actually that picky, I just liked the joke~

She has a great voice, too... but we're getting off-topic. *cough*

I could stand to hear a little more.

You shoulda stayed in your bunk!

You shoulda stayed in your bunk!

I did... ( ͝° ͜ʖ͡°)

Cackling like this is such a great way to greet the day.

Just a thought, and it's ultimately up for Comrade Cosmonaut to decide, but if we're supposed to explore the Force and various Force using groups within, could we maybe list some groups that might be interested in exploring?
