Clone Wars IC

" It's true what soldiers say: remember your weapons were made by the lowest bidder" The zabrak shrugs "let's hope it's the same for the clankers"

Shad looks around interested observing the people around the base, intrigued by the lack of clones and curious about these volunteer soldiers.

Looking over at Shad "Droids are mass produced they lack tactics but make up for that in number, which is good our Clones and Volunteers here can think on their own and make the right decisions. Which believe me helps in a firefight, you need to think fast or you'll find yourself with plasma bolt in your head. I'll have to admit though handling a few thugs in the Outer Rim is gonna be a lot different than fighting in a war zone."

Tessrah looks to shad. "I never thought about our lightsaber's they are all one of a kind. Even mine took weeks to make because I wanted materials from my home planet." she took her Saber off her hip and examined it. "Akal teeth like the ones on my headdress for the emitter and for the pommel with Akal bone hollowed and engraved by my own hands. I spent weeks making it I can only imagine how much these cost just for the basic parts. I know my headdress would run anywhere from two to three thousand credits on a open market." she had a perplexed frown "I wouldn't part with it for millions of credits though."

Shad nods "our lightsabers are handcrafted, it's a very different thing. And i wouldn't part with mine either" he unhooks the saber and observes the metal cilinder mergin in the central section that ends with the blade shroud. "It took me a week to assemble it and a full day to properly attune to the crystal. I still remember the mantra i repeated over and over" in a slower tone he recites a few lines "The crystal is the heart of the blade, the heart is the crystal of the Jedi" The zabrak hooks back the saber to his belt and keeps walking involved in the memory.

Pulling his Spartan looking saber from his hilt "Took me a while to get it right especially when my Master made me craft everything from scratch. Every time I got something wrong I'd have to restart from the beginning." Kor twirls the hilt in his hand "The first time I tried I put the most effort into personalizing it, by the sixth I just wanted to make sure everything was in the right place. In the end I think it came along well though simple yet elegant, unlike blasters." Kor reattached his blade to his belt.

Dera rests two fingers on her hilt. It's smooth, with the only grooves on its grip, and slightly thinner than average. "The first time I tried to insert my crystal, I managed to ruin the hilt. I remember being so frustrated—I just wanted to finish it. To be a real Jedi. Because what's a Jedi without her weapon?" She shakes her head. "I was focusing too much on the weapon and not enough on the process. Or on the ideal. My master always did say I was too eager to fight—said it quite a bit, back then."

She shrugs. "It was never going to work if I thought of my saber only as a weapon. It's a sword, yes... but a shield too, at least in metaphor. When I realized that, I tried again. It worked."

Entering the command center, you see Master Kota (http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/11124/111246824/5023457-4596704-2394752959-43355.jpg) and human female in ambasadoial robes around a holotable, speaking with Master Kenobi.

"...it will take some time."

"My core troops are marshaling, but the militia arnt ready to handle that many droids."

"Hold out while you can, evacuate if you have to. Kenobi out." the hologram vanishes.

Master Kota turns to the other figure. "Well, I've got a few contingencies laid in, but this isnt looking good. We should get you to your ship."

"Many of these soldiers are from my world. The least I can do is help."

Master Kota nodded, then tourned to the approaching padawons. "Good to see you make it. The local wildlife is a persistant problem, but at least they're doing their part to hold off the droidfighters. Anyone have any injuries that need attending to?"

Tessrah steps forward "could I please grab a few bacta pads and perhaps a few stim packs. The pads fix wounds to prevent scars and I would like to prevent these from doing so. " she pointed to her side and arm which had a few dried spots of blood and some scrapes.

"also if it's not too much trouble... I was under the impression that we were only to be training so I did not bring any armor. I don't suppose that there is anyway to requisition some for me since this is a mixed species base and I could perhaps borrow some?"

"I believe Shad took some bad hits back on the ship, I also have a few new scratches, we could go to the Medical bay and return quickly to be briefed. Unless we are needed immediately on the battlefield of course." Kor moves to see the holomap, "How outnumbered are we exactly?"

Dera bows. "Master Kota. I'm Padawan Dera Jerinu. These two are Tessrah and Kor." She doesn't say how relieved she is that he's unharmed. However glad she is that they once again have some guidance. "I'm uninjured, and able to attend to the wounds of others if necessary."

Following Dera's lead, Soryn bows and introduces himself, "Soryn Velk, and it is a pleasure to be in the presence of a Jedi Master. Please direct me to any required task; I would be happy to lend help where it is needed."

Vyrr watches as Dera and Soryn take initiative to ask if their aid is required. Somewhat disappointed to not be the first, he joins them, 'I'm glad to meet you as well, master Kota. Padawan Vyrr Tavik. I have a long way to go, but it seems that there might be a shortage of people in the technical department, and I think that I am capable of helping there. Permission to start?'

Kor speaks up "It seems I have dispensed with the pleasantries, I am Padwan Kor Mon Tan, if you need an armored battering ram I'm your man, I am also good at repairs so if you need me to assist Vyrr I can also do that." Kor continues to study the holomap.

The zabrak steps forward " I am Padawan Shad Raal, I am ready to help, but first i would like to pass in the medbay to patch up a few cuts i got dealing with the beasts. Oh and i'd like to borrow an armor as well if it's possible"

Master Kota shakes his head. "We've got bacta patches, but armor fitting would take more time than we have. The sepratists are landing their frigates to deploy ground forces near the canyon. The fighters are ahead of schedual and should be launching shortly, but I suspect they intend to use the canyon for cover much as you did. If they do, I've got a demolition team ready to make their lives difficult, but they'd be using the Doren'enok tunnels to get close enough, and will need an escort that can handle enemies up close."

Kor looks around on the war table "Yes I see the tunnels you speak of on the holomap I'm under the assumption then that you want us to escort the Demolitions team?" Kor continues study of the map. "Unless there are more pressing issues I will be willing to dispense some justice on the separatists."

Tessrah looks around. "okay well while you form a plan I'll go to the infirmary for the medical supplies and meet you near the tunnels." she turns on the heel of her boots and asks random personel where the infirmary is and makes her way there.

"When you say enemies, do you refer to the winged beasts that were our welcome wagon as we arrived on world? Or something less... Unpleasant?" Soryn asks, his voice edged with the concern the Padawans would be facing yet another encounter with the Sithspawn.

Shad turns to follow Tessrah "I'll get patched up and join you at the tunnels" then stops to hear the answer to Soryn's question.

"The same creatures, I'm afraid. Several of the canyon defensive guns went dark near that section after they followed you into the defensive perimiter, so there's probably some still around."

"Don't worry Soryn, those beasts weren't that tough, just try and hit them this time!" Kor slaps Soryn on the back, as he turns to face General Kota "So will these beasts be the only resistance we will have in the tunnels or are there other hostile forms of wildlife in the canyon?"

"Dear me, they are rather like an infestation," the Pau'an replies to Kota, before lurching forward under the weight of Kor's encouraging pat. "Yes, that would be the ideal scenario. Perhaps when we're not fighting on a ship's open cargo ramp this time..."

Turning back to Soryn with his usual grin "No ship this time, it's just us fighting them off while we are carrying high explosives on a cliff face. At least it won't be moving before we set the charges off. Come on it'll be fun." Kor grabs Dera "And we'll have our healer there from the beginning no need to worry about getting hurt."

Dera barely manages not to yelp when she's suddenly grabbed. "I'm not sure that's the best way to think about it..." She trails off awkwardly. And hopes that no one decides to get reckless around explosives. "Perhaps you should put me down," she suggests.

Tessrah noticed that she was being followed by shad and turned waiting for him to catch up. "Are you okay Shad?" her big blue eyes and faint smile were pleasant to see.
