Morale question

By ByronC, in Road to Legend

My group currently has one week left before the next obligatory quest, and we have already spent all our gold. Some of us want to start a new side-quest. But what happens, if we lose the morale and have to flee? Do we have to start the main quest with zero morale and lose it automatically?

The RtL rulebook stated, that morale can be refreshed by travel events and by returning to Tamalir. However we will not have the time to travel to Tamalir...

If you loose morale in the side quest, you have to start the next main-quest with less morale (even if you win). If you are completely beaten, you will see the skull symbol instead of a number. This means that you will loose the next quest after the first knockout of a hero.

But normally, you won't loose more than 2 morale in a side quest, so don't be afraid to go for it. Depends on your group composition and difficulty level though.

Just my humble two cents worth ...

I don't think you ever want to start a main story quest with less than full morale. While I could perhaps see doing one with say, 1/2 of my total morale or more, I definitely would never want to be forced to do a main story quest with my morale indicator stuck on the Skull.

I would not like my chances.

We try to plan out our visits to Tamalir, shopping, skill purchasing, etc. so that this never happens. For example, if we leave a main story quest with full morale, we always immediately do a side quest, and then when finished with that, go to Tamalir.

Ditto what any2cards said. We too have given up a week here and there to start the main early and avoid having lowered moral for the main. Just not worth the risk in my opinion

Last Friday, My group had to do a story quest while at Morale 1.

The side quest before had been particularly harsh, and only a travel event allowed us to get back UP to 1.

However, the story quest went.... well. We won, even though my Skirmisher Tahlia was all over the map...everywhere but where she was supposed to go.

So next time, we are planning on leaving ourselves some time to go back to town before the story quest...just in case.

One thing to note is that you aren't wasting the weeks. Any unused weeks will carry over between main quests.

Thanks for all your answers. But this already answers, what would have been my next question ;) So I will try to convince the other to head for the story quest.
